    Remote DWC Underground

Leaving for two full weeks tomorrow morning. I guess this will be the first real test of the automation stuff I've set up. Temp, RH, light, PH and water level are all running on auto pilot. The one thing I haven't done yet is remote nutrient control. Any suggestions on what ppm to target? It's...

    Remote DWC Underground

I've probably spent 12 hours on it. 3 of which were used up digging a 3x3x2 foot hole in hard clay with a tiny shovel. Had to go 2 feet down to get enough clearance for a 48 inch high tent and an 18 inch deep res which is buried under the tent to keep it cool and provide more vertical grow...

    Remote DWC Underground

Awesome. Thanks for the input. I'll flush and clean tonight, and add just hydroguard and minimal nutes. The roots are brown, but dont appear to be damaged. Nothing dead or separated. I may try to rinse them off with some fresh PH'd water in between. I'd also try a little physan beforehand...

    Remote DWC Underground

Ugh. Classic case of root rot has set in. I added a cup of H2O2 and also bought an Ice Probe, some Hydroguard and sealed up a few small light leaks in the res. Res temp has been fluctuating between 70-73. I figured that was cool enough, but apparantly I was mistaken. New seedlings ready to go...

Yeah, I didn't rinse everything off well enough after cleaning it with the physan.

    Remote DWC Underground

Looking slightly better today after once again flushing the res. This time without using physan 20. It's still got these dark spots forming on the tips of the leaves. I'm starting to wonder if the brass fittings might be interacting with the PH Down and leaching metals into the solution. I also...

    What's causing this?

Looking a hell of a lot better today after a flush, some great white, and a larger air pump. The res cooler will be here in two days. She might just survive.

    What's causing this?

Ugh. So I cleaned the entire system and sterilized with physan 20. Unfortunately the plant, being in bad shape already, really didn't like the residual physan left behind. Trying to recover, but it's looking like this first grow might be a bust. :(

    What's causing this?

The roots actually look pretty good as far as I can tell. I just ordered an Ice Probe aquarium chiller to get the res temp below 70. Also two more seeds in water to get a head start in case I need to start over.

Well, I've run into a problem. Details posted over on the plant problems forum. :(

    What's causing this?

Hi all, This is my first grow and I've run into some trouble. 4 or 5 days ago I noticed these brown spots on the leaves starting to appear. I discovered the water pump that transfers airated solution from the 15 gallon res to the 4 gallon res has died. This also caused the water in the small...

About ready to trim off everything above and below the third node. I'll be training using Nebula's Manifold method to get 8 equal length colas.

    Remote DWC Underground

Upped the ppm to 500 and added some calmag. Looking pretty good this morning. I noticed some slime in the res so I'll be doing a flush and peroxide treatment shortly.

Ah, that makes sense. It's definitely growing super fast. Thanks for easing my mind! I was thinking I probably burnt it.

    Remote DWC Underground

Alright folks, advice please. Since I dropped the lights from 36 to 24 inches, the top of the plant looks slightly pale. Not the best picture, but you can kind of see it here. Just a little less green than it was yesterday. Lights too close or do I need to add more nutrients? TDS is low at...

Automatic PH Control for under $150

Hmm. Good point. I didn't think about that. I'll be keeping an eye on it for signs of corrosion. As for excess zink and copper getting into the system, any suggestions on what to look out for?

    Remote DWC Underground

Today I dropped the light down to 24 inches and installed a new wide angle IP camera with pan and zoom controls and night vision. Not super happy with the picture quality. The thing that really sucks is I can't see the Bluelab screen when the grow light is on. I might put the mobile phone back...

Automatic PH Control for under $150

Thought I'd share this since it's completely eliminated my need to manually adjust PH. Pictured below is a PH Down drip line controlled by a solenoid switch and a Milwaukee Instruments PH controller. It holds PH in my 20 gallon res at exactly what I set it to. I put some cotton in the brass...

    Remote DWC Underground

Yeah, I'd rather my wife found the plant than the receipts showing how much money I spent to grow it. So I was thinking about dropping the light from 36 inches down to 24 inches now that roots are established. The light I'm using has 2 50w COBs (bare) and 24 5w LEDs. How high should this...
