All of my experience has been with soil growing, but I'm venturing into Hydro. I've never looked into bell siphons. I bought a plastic tray from Wal-Mart and drilled holes in it and all seems well :). And I don't really consider a year to be 'ages' :P.

I have a cool tube and it doesn't get hot at all really, I just didn't want to fry them up with too much light or something, because I've heard they're too strong for seedlings.

At what distance should I start it out under my 600w MH from seed? Should I dim it to 50% or would that make them stretch? I'm doing hydroponics and they're in 1" rockwool cubes right now.

I don't want to do silicone really, and I don't live near a hydro store. I had it in my reservoir for 5 days and the bolt started rusting a little, will it hurt my plants at all?

I bought some 1/2" stainless steel hose clamps to keep the connection secure, but I wasn't thinking about them rusting :\ I've tried zip ties, but they're not strong enough since my tubing is so thick. Are there any other solutions here? I've looked online and found a single brass clamp for $10...

Aquarium silicone wouldn't work instead of cement?

I could of sworn that I read somewhere that having the air pushed back into the air pump isn't good for it, but maybe I'm trippin'...

My water pump doesn't want to stay stuck to the bottom of my res, it falls over and floats around and all. I was wondering if I could add some aquarium silicone to the bottoms of the sticky pads to keep it in spot, or if there was a better solution. Thanks :)

The best way to use your ducting is to heat your house, so it spreads the heat out instead of concentrating it. If you don't want to spread it, at least vent it through something that normally produces heat (chimney, dryer ducting). You should watch Barry Cooper's Never Get Busted Vol. 1 & 2...

Ducting into a chimney is a great idea :) I've heard of ducting through dryer vents, but a chimney sounds simpler :P
