    Well water vs RO

Okay. Got the RO on the way. Recommend direct feed with a float switch or a separate holding tank and use when needed? Recommendations on 1000w HPS ballast that would work with my cooltube?

600 or 1000 watt doesn't matter to me money wise. Think the cooltube can handle either plus my 8" exhaust should be okay.

    Well water vs RO

Am going to switch up my nute lineup this next run. Going with Jacks 321. Heard and read so much about it, want to give it a go. But also with RO water to completely control the res.

    Well water vs RO

Do you use well water? I mean mine is in the 400's PPM wise out of the tap. I only do 4 sites right now in a rdwc, hence why I was thinking 600w. I have a cooltube that helps keep temps down. Dehumidifier. 8" exhaust fan and filter. Michigan basement is hard to keep temps up with that big of a fan

    Well water vs RO

Sorry in advance if this has been asked/debated. Searched and really didn't find an answer. I've been using my well water and have had mild success. The ppms are high so I can never really add a decent amount of nutrients to my res. Usually 5ml of micro and 10ml of bloom of GH nutes per 5...

    Nutrients

Cant speak on the nutes. Vast majority here run a sterile res including myself. From what I gathered for bennies, the cons out way any pros by a far margin. Almost asking for trouble going with Bennie's. Not saying cant be done, but hear its a major headache.

    Safe Reservoir Temps For DWC?

Mine is between 60 and 70 degrees F. Res outside tent though. No chiller.

Make them stretch for their water. The have to work to make it work. Just like everything else, if you want it, you work for it, in some form or another.

    Return Pipes Clogged

What about u bend going up? So water would fill until it got up to the pipe then drain. Kind of like they do to ponds. This way it could never overfill. Do roots float in water? If I did that the biggest problem would be how to drain each tote.

    They're on the sides.

    Return Pipes Clogged

I cannot. Was thinking after this run, screen off a decent size section to confine the roots to a certain area in the totes. Or get some perforated polypro or polyethylene and use as a screen.

    Return Pipes Clogged

Have a RDWC/waterfall system, 4 site with 17 gallon totes, 2" pvc return to a 20 gal res. Water levels were falling everyday and I thought it was just due to flower cycle. So I kept adding 5 gals everyday to keep res up to level. Then noticed lots of water in my tent. Thought maybe dehumidifier...

I use rapid rooters so I wont be able to help much in the Rockwool. I do recall people saying that the rockwool tends to hold water though, and possible too much water or root rot is a concern. Hopefully some one with more experience in RW chimes in.

So no waterfall? Just a current to circulate water around? If you cap and drill the feed lines inside your 7.5 gal totes it would create the waterfall and you could do away with the airstones. From what I heard airstones add heat.

    Waterfalls

Think you get you feed and return sizes mixed up. I would go 3" return, 1" or 3/4" feed with possibly a reducer to 3/4" or 1/2 inside each bucket for the waterfall pressure. Dont need the airstones. I personally have 2" returns and no issues yet with clogged returns.

I use hard water, and my ppm readings always include the hard water ppms. I would not subtract out as they plants will use any nutrients in your water. I'd have to look at my notes, but I dont think I added nutes to them until almost 2-3wks old. Keep a close eye on them, they dont need much in...

Mice Keep Eating My Newly Planted Seeds and Seedlings!

Get a cat, snap traps. Better yet get some Golden Malrin and mix with peanut butter and/or coke, or any other food source they eat. Will kill them right at the bowl. Beware though, this stuff is toxic and will kill anything that comes in contact with it, including pets. So keep out of areas with...

When i put them in the systems I kept clear plastic cups over the net pots for what seemed like 2 weeks to help keep them in higher humidity. I put them in well before the roots were ready for the system though.
