the standard 4x8 mesh in filters has a lot of air gaps. i replaced my charcoal in my refillable filter with 12x40 mesh and it scrubs a lot better even at higher fan speeds. yes, the cfm is lower, but that is because the air is being filtered through tighter gaps in the charcoal. works for me
