I would top and then LST. Last grow I fimmed half and topped half and they were very similar in yield, but the topped plants had much nicer, large top colas and minimal if any undergrowth. Check out "Uncle Ben's Topping Technique" I believe it's called.

Pretty sure "mace" is illegal to carry on your person in Canada, definetly can't have hand guns. So instead of mace we have "dog repellent" which is small and than bear spray. Carry the small container of dog repellent at all times and rock the big bear spray in the car along with a baseball...
