Issues With Ph and Maintaining Ph In DWC (Using AN ph perfect) HELP!

I've had just tap water in the buckets overnight, the ph this morning is 8.6. It's just odd, because my tap water is 7.5, something is causing the jump up once the water is in the buckets. I'm using single 5gal dwc buckets. The seedlings have rooted through the hydroton and are showing in...

Issues With Ph and Maintaining Ph In DWC (Using AN ph perfect) HELP!

Well they're just seedlings, so the ph isn't going up because they're heavily feeding. I used the recommended nute solution strength that was recommended for seedlings. The water starts at 8 ph and never drops, even with the ph perfect, until I add ph down. But it slowly rises back up...

Issues With Ph and Maintaining Ph In DWC (Using AN ph perfect) HELP!

I just emptied the buckets and replaced them with fresh tap water. I haven't added anything to the water yet. The Ph is 8.0, with nothing added to the water. Oddly, my tap water is 7.5, before I add it to the buckets. Maybe it's the hydroton raising the ph? I rinsed it thoroughly before...

Issues With Ph and Maintaining Ph In DWC (Using AN ph perfect) HELP!

I'm trying to get the ph right in my 5gallon dwc. My plants are only seedlings, and I've put seedling strength ratio Advanced Nutrients Ph perfect in the water. I'm using tap water. My tap water measures 7.5 ph out of the tap. After adding advanced nutrients and hydroguard about 9 days ago...

    How Is This Possible?

I'm wondering why my ph meter read 6.0 in normal distilled water when normal distilled water is supposed to be 7. I used the buffer solutions like they suggested, in distilled water, and the meter read perfect on both of them. I don't get it, I don't know why my reservoir is 8.4. Now I'm just...

    How Is This Possible?

Does advnced nutrients ph perfect work if you're using seedling ratios? 1/4 quarter strength

    How Is This Possible?

Still, confused. Just measured my tap water ph and it's 7.8. So the ph perfect Adv. N and the hydroguard made it jump to 8.4. I don't get it.

    How Is This Possible?

But if it's just straight water, the ph doesn't matter right? It's only when feeding nutrients that the ph matters? I have nutrients in the water, but the seedlings are so young they really don't need to be eating yet. I'd rather not use vinegar and just wait until friday to lower it when the...

    How Is This Possible?

I'm an idiot. I was using distilled water to calibrate the ph meter, not tap water (which I used for the buckets). Nevertheless, the ph is 8.4, not around 6.0, like I was hoping the ph perfect would do. I'll have to use some apple cider vinegar until friday when the ph down gets here.

Debating Grow Tent Size & If I should go CFM Overkill

Right, the lights will be moved correspondingly with the plant height. But if the tent was only 5 ft, then the plant reaches a point where it cannot grow any higher or it will be too close to the light, for the light cannot be raised any higher than the tent roof height. This is why I wanted...

Debating Grow Tent Size & If I should go CFM Overkill

Just found a 48x48x80 tent for the same price as the 39x39x78, by the brand I was previously going to buy from. With a little extra space I may be able to fill in some cfl around the plants like I had originally wanted to. Will allow some extra room when I get to the tomatoes and other veggies...

Debating Grow Tent Size & If I should go CFM Overkill

Thanks for the info everyone. I'm pretty convinced now on getting the 6" fan, as well as the 39x39x78 tent. I definitely won't go any smaller in tent size, if anything I'll go up a bit. 6.5 feet should be fine though, and I'm not looking to grow more than 2 plants at a time, so 3x3 should be...

Debating Grow Tent Size & If I should go CFM Overkill

Do you guys think I should go with the 4" 190cfm fan for a 39x39x78 tent? It is much cheaper getting a 4" fan and filter, which is desirable, but I thought I could work the fan less by having a 6" and having it turned down low, instead of having a 4" turned at high 24/7. It seems like the 4"...

Debating Grow Tent Size & If I should go CFM Overkill

I was going to get the 4", but I'm going 6" now, after others have shared how helpful it is having a higher power fan. Makes sense, I can run it at the lowest speed, rather than needing to have the 4" full power all the time. Will likely help with sound too, since I can have the 6" at low...

Debating Grow Tent Size & If I should go CFM Overkill

You're right, I'd like the tent to at least allow me to step into it and stand straight. I don't want to be worried about running out of height for the plants and having the lights too close. Also, I'd like to grow tomatoes in here as well, and they can get quite high. I see a tent with...

Debating Grow Tent Size & If I should go CFM Overkill

Oh, do you mean because the 4" fan wouldn't be sufficient to filter the space of a 4x2 tent? Yeah if the filter doubles the cfm useage, then i'd be looking at about 80 cfm's free. should be alright for a 4x2 tent. i'll just go with the 6". was just concerned it would "suck too hard"

Debating Grow Tent Size & If I should go CFM Overkill

Yeah I'm planning on getting two lights, one per plant. Oh I didn't realize you could fit an 8" filter on a smaller fan. I'll consider that then. So the 4" fan doesn't have the ability to hook to a fan speed adjuster? I wouldn't be able to run the 4" at a low speed? Man If I could use...

Debating Grow Tent Size & If I should go CFM Overkill

Those are led? So far I've decided on the galaxy hydro 300 watt led 16 inch light. But I'm going to give it a day or two to let my mind change lol. I actually have a 1000w hps from almost 15 years ago, but honestly I'm frightened to use it, as I'm not sure of it's overall condition anymore...
