You should put a cfl like 1 inch away from the top and like you siad the fan is important

Check out roseman diy dwc (bubbleponic) i am useing it with good results plus it is cheaper

The hard part is removing the soil from the roots if u r gonna do it run under water for a while to losen the soil and good luck
