Adding deep & far reds to Quantum Board build

They want to DMX control some beneficial spectra to existing 80% 3000k QB’s but these multi spec sound QBs kinda cool if they’re spitting out a ton of the right light. I actually like the idea of a DMX controlled unit with a bunch of preset scenes that could be timed to run a dawn til dusk...

Adding deep & far reds to Quantum Board build

I guess to simplify what I’m Trying to achieve would be to maybe ask a little more directly. With 4 QB304’s how many deep, far red & royal, deep blue cobs would you use? And if you were to build a 6x QB, how many? Drivers? Thank you very much!

Adding deep & far reds to Quantum Board build

Thanks all for the replies. Apologies for taking so long to get back to this. Some other aspects of this project superseded the light for now (since I have 9x HLG-550's to R&D the first 'tainer) but we're back at it. Honestly, the only reason I'm asking on here is because I'm finally a noob to...

    From DEs to LEDs

We run the exact same formula, but you def run a bit hotter. Do you run the same TDS under DE’s as well? Also, I’ve read about QB’s heavily reducing stretch in transition to bloom. What was your take? Certainly looked like you had a pretty good amount of stretch that first week, but no much...

Adding deep & far reds to Quantum Board build

im working on this project for a client that wants his own “brand” of lighting for his ultra modular-efficient grow rooms we designed/built him. While I don’t really think there’s very much to improve upon the qb we are using, the client wants more. I think adding some small deep or far reds and...

    From DEs to LEDs

Thanks for that. Really appreciate it. How high did you hang your fixture from the canopy?

    From DEs to LEDs

May I ask what fert regiment and how hot you’re feeding in peak bloom under those qb’s at what height? Also, just curious to the yields being typically lower than the 1.5-1.8gpw I’ve been seeing with qb’s. You obviously know what you’re doing, so I’m curious if it’s the learning curve or...

Can 700 watts of LED strips grow trees???

    Thanks for that, ttystikk

Can 700 watts of LED strips grow trees???

That’s pretty damn amazing first time results. Very impressive for 700w. Why Jack’s 321 and not the 5-12-26 with CalCiNit? Just curious. Thanks for a great show.

    Large scale electrical help

What.. no veg room? You’re gonna need a lot more than the AC supplied with s building to cool 100 lights in 100 individual rooms. Not to mention the building materials cost, labor and time of such construction would be OUTRAGEOUS. Why?

Replacing my 600watt MH/HPS with a LED what are the best options

I don’t know Growmaus but when researching for the hot ticket of LED, I came across right before I was going to order the Johnson Maximizer aircooled COB. Glad I did because it got me in touch with Steven Johnson who is also on this forum. For a youtube grow vid, growmau5 is easy to watch...

Replacing my 600watt MH/HPS with a LED what are the best options

when comparing LED’s to HID, you have to factor in the cooling requirements of HID. Watt for watt, the QB wins every time.

Best light setup for yield 20×20 room

I still don’t think cmh penetrates like a QB. The lower you hang a cmh to the canopy you risk heat and you shrink the coverage. Overlapping QB’s have higher PPF than cmh and you can lower with great coverage. Though coverage with 2 315’s over a 4x4 might do it with higher temps..

Replacing my 600watt MH/HPS with a LED what are the best options

QB’s or 2x315 cmh... I would assume 500w of QB would pull similar PPFD to 2 315’s with better penetration because you can hang em lower and still get great coverage. This is however, an assumption because I haven’t used cmh yet. Though I plan to run some comparisons, and I’ve seen the goods...

Best light setup for yield 20×20 room

I’d say jump on it and look for another 8... that room can handle it if you properly air cool it and add a decent 3 ton AC, or several (4x 750cfm intake fans) blowing through through a dust shroom above the duct lines to positively pressurize the room with dry 30-40F air. I’d still have a...

Best light setup for yield 20×20 room

Honestly. Not yet, but I read about the par values a lot. Those numbers at the corners ain’t shit without overlap or a tent reflecting all 4 sides of a 4x4.

    Intake fan or no?

I personally like positive pressure in a sealed room and running my carbon with a seperate fan to scrub the area and not vent, which only invites bugs & pathogens through the room. Aircool the light, but don’t suck the cool air or co2 out the room by exhausting more than just the lights. I...

Best light setup for yield 20×20 room

But 945w easily replaces 2x1000w SE with way more uniformity. It would take 2 Hlg-550’s to compete, Though I’m not sure about the thermal output of 945w of the Cmh vs 1020w of Hlg-550’s. At 39% efficiency, it’s apparent the hlg-550 wins.

Best light setup for yield 20×20 room

Also, you can put an HLG-550 in an air cooled hood on top the glass and air cool it making it that much more efficient! That could easily remove 1000 BTU’s of radiant heat from the power supply and ambient from the diodes to the glass. To properly cool 9 of em, I’m just running a 2ton mini...

Best light setup for yield 20×20 room

Definitely. I have a buddy who taught me at least half of what I know, and was a partner on the Grow above, using a Johnson maximizer. He’s been dealing with light stress and has had to raise his lights and dim it to 50% to keep them healthy. It’s almost light toxicity how powerful & penetrating...
