Three types of hydro in a small tent on one airpump?

would if i could, the tray i got just had slightly too high walls so i had to use longer channels then i would have liked.

Three types of hydro in a small tent on one airpump?

why would i want air pruning in the cubes? the roots are meant to grow out and cover the fabric mat.

    The Membrane Meniscus System

Thanks! unfortunately i haven't grown this specific variety before, i just started the same one in soil so i can have an idea how well the system grows these, but it'll take time..

    The Membrane Meniscus System

Update time, the plants didnt seem to mind my pruning session, this is yesterday: and this is today: on the topside the plants look great and im seeing tomatoes starting to form: my nutrient tank is almost empty and not once did i have to play around with the PH or EC, i didnt have to...

    The Membrane Meniscus System

Welp i decided to change out the membrane for the polyester fabric i had as a backup and let me tell you, it was an absolute pain in the ass, had to give the roots some pruning as there was no conceivable way to get them situated on the new fabric properly with the amount of roots that they...

    The Membrane Meniscus System

i have a real problem getting my hands on some real ripstop, god knows i've looked around, i have some tightly weaved polyester fabric im thinking of using, not sure how well it will perform as a membrane though... since the roots dont appear to be sticking to the current fabric and the breach...

    The Membrane Meniscus System

Houston we have a problem! took a new root pic today and found this sneaky root on the left side wall growing underneath the nylon fabric  the first layer of containment was breached! its only a matter of time now until the roots make their way down the tray holes or sides to the...

    The Membrane Meniscus System

those are some nice looking dwarf tomatos, im looking at a bunch of small ones in a barrel configuration right?, which variety are they? i've grown dwarfs before but regular dwarfs can still get big, just takes much longer, i needed an even smaller variety so i ordered a bunch of micro dwarf...

    The Membrane Meniscus System

6.4-6.7 ph is the range for this fertilizer combo as far as i know..thats what i've always used for tomatoes, Andrew didnt recommend any specific fertilizer or ph range, but i think it makes sense to avoid using organic fertilizers in this system.

    The Membrane Meniscus System

Hey everyone, after reading about the membrane meniscus hydroponic system on Larry3215's thread: https://www.rollitup.org/t/three-types-of-hydro-in-a-small-tent-on-one-airpump.960095/ I did a little digging, got in touch with the inventor Andrew Parker and also read his book on the system. On...

Three types of hydro in a small tent on one airpump?

Sure i got a few pics laying around, but i gotta say this thing was a hassle to get just right, had to deconstruct and rebuild it like 3-4 times until it worked, the biggest issue was the even distribution of water across the membrane, if one of the layers are not sitting flat you'll get water...

Three types of hydro in a small tent on one airpump?

Hey bro, you still ended up with very nice looking plants ;-) I decided to test the membrane system myself so i built one according to Andrews instructions in the book, went the whole 9 yards, buffer mat/sub layer/nylon membrane, theres been no change in ph/ec for the past week, no pumps used...

Three types of hydro in a small tent on one airpump?

Thats part of the reasoning as to why the PH/EC wont change, the membrane system supposedly keeps the roots from coming in direct contact with the bulk of the nutrient solution, the only contact with the solution they have is what they uptake via the wicking process of the system, while its a...

Three types of hydro in a small tent on one airpump?

klx setup is impressively simple and produces amazing results, probably the biggest plus with that system is the cleanup, so quick and easy, the only reason im even gonna give the meniscus membrane a shot is because of the claim that its a recirculating system with no change in PH or EC, sounds...

Three types of hydro in a small tent on one airpump?

I'm glad you like it, and i agree that it really doesn't matter at all what the sub layer is made of as long as its inert and porous, perlite should be just fine, in fact i thought about ditching the felt idea and just using perlite as well, i haven't actually ordered the felt yet, and i also...

Three types of hydro in a small tent on one airpump?

Not much more then what was already in his book, its quite comprehensive as you probably already know, i did inquire if i could replace marine carpeting for the buffer layer with some cheap poly felt, he seems to think it would do just fine, as long as i use ripstop fabric for the membrane as...

Three types of hydro in a small tent on one airpump?

Are the roots actually growing through the membrane? if they are then its no longer a meniscus membrane system... the whole point of the membrane is to separate the roots from the nutrient solution below, i guess i'll really have to get my hands on some ripstop fabric.. been talking with Andrew...
