Help me pick a system please.

Find a tote that is the same height as your buckets to use as a res. The bigger the better for res size. I always used 27 gallon tough boxes: If you try DWC without airstones, you will have root rot and stunted growth. It isnt worth it.

    Sick plants-----Stumped Grower????

You dont want them sitting in trays of water. The runoff should run strait out of the pots. They look a little over watered. Give them a little hydrogen peroxide. They look reasonably healthy otherwise. Might want to drop the PH a little, maybe down to the high 5s. Bugs? Go onto ebay and...

What the hell is this? Is this a cal mag deficiency? HELP! It's spreading upwards

Get some dolomite lime from the hardware/garden store. It's cheap. transplant them into bigger pots and give each one a couple tablespoons of the dolomite lime. You are having PH issues and the lime will cure the PH problem. Give them fertilizer every time you water. Like a half teaspoon...

Spider Mites! Getting rid of them before starting.

I bought ladybugs once. A few days later, dead ladybugs everywhere in my grow room. Even clogged in the fan and in the reservoir. Mites not affected at all. Got Forbid 4f, mites gone forever.

Spider Mites! Getting rid of them before starting.

There is a way to get rid of them permanently in one shot. Get some Forbid 4f, spray them once, and you are cured. A few weeks later, spray the sides of the pots and floor for good measure. You dont even have to spray the undersides of the leaves. Just spray it on and mites and eggs dead...

Nutrient Deficiency Through Possible Lock Out?

The droop is from overwatering. Use some hydrogen peroxide and don't water them to death. Be patient. If they are in soil, let them dry out completely before watering them again. When you do water them, you want about a 10% drip out the bottom of the container. If you want them to dry...

    I think I've got the rot !!!

Transplant it into a bigger pot. Make sure to use a complete fertilizer that contains all trace nutrients. A little hydrogen peroxide will help it dry out faster. I have grown plants in really crappy soil that was taking 5 or 6 days to dry out. I started giving them a teaspoon per gallon...

    T5 vs T8

Here: http://www.plantlightinghydroponics.com/grow-bulbs-fluorescent-c-73.html T8s The 6500 kelvin bulbs are 'daylight' bulbs. They can be used for vegetative. Mix 3000 and 5000 kelvin bulbs for full spectrum. The 6500 K bulbs have a bit more blue than regular daylight spectrum bulbs. I...

Help me pick a system please.

They are the same to me. My systems recirculate via undercurrent. The advantage of undercurrent is that water does not pile up in the bucket as much, so you can circulate faster. If you do a circulating DWC setup, put your reservoir outside the room. This will drop your solution temps way down.

Bleach instead of h202 as a sterilizer

The rate is 1 ppm for killing pythium and .5 ppm residual. With 7% bleach (chlorox) you use one teaspoon per 50 gallons to reach 1 ppm. You would use it every other day at this rate. Bleach works very well but don't use it on the same day you use H202. Bleach kills bacteria much better than...

Just bought a new system and all it does is flood.help

Yeah, that little hole is important. It sucks air and prevents siphoning. Once you conclude your harvest, you should make your own buckets. Those ebb and gro buckets are small as hell. I replaced mine with 3 gallon buckets. Very easy to do. Definately don't miss dealing with all the...

Help me pick a system please.

Recirculating Deep water culture using 5 gallon buckets is the easiest and cheapest to setup. You can easily pull a quarter pound off each bucket per harvest with a 600 watt, depending on the strain, or do a perpetual and pull one every two weeks or so. Very easy to do a perpetual grow with...

    T5 vs T8

I do all my vegging under t5 and natural light CFLs combined. See no difference in growth rates from using 1000w halides.

Taking the plunge: HP Aero Drain to Waste

Yep will do. Here is what the four or five days in the DWC did. I just popped them back into the aero system. It's on!

    True HP Aero For 2011

So you are running drain to waste? Epic! I've always been intrigued by the upsides of DTW. I throw out 50 gallons of solution per week in my DWC setups. Even if lose a few gallons per day to runoff, it's more efficient in fertilizer use.

RDWC - don't want root rot ! Can I just use DNF Sparkle or should I make Tea?

You need an airstone in each site with DWC.

Fan Leafs. Blockers of Light Or Energy Producers???

True that. I remember my brother pulling off all the shade leaves three weeks into flowering. He heard it from some old hippy dude. I warned him what would happen but he didn't listen. His buds never got any bigger. He ended up with the scrawniest little buds ever, and it was a fat...

burned my plant not getting any better

Nonsense. Cut off the burnt parts and transplant it. it will resume normal growth quickly. Even faster if you give it some B1 from the garden store.
