pH is the most important factor in nutrient availability. If the pH is wrong, it will throw everything else off. pH for soil - 6.5 to 7 pH for hydro - 5.5 to 6.5

start them under CFLs, they cost less to run, don't put out as much heat, have a better spectrum for vegging than HPS. Overall much better for a small seedling imo.

They look real good man. I'd wager, with their growth formation and leaf shape that they're an indica of smoe variety. You could boost the light significantly inside the box by lining it with mylar.
