Why are the ratios so high for Supernatural's hydro line? veg - 17-7-18 flower - 14-8-19

I'm looking to run a top feed drip system, 9 plants in hydroton-filled netpots. How big should my res be? ~20gal? more? less? I appreciate everyone's feedback. Also, should I just run out bare spaghetti line to the plants, or do I really need drippers?

So I'm 14 days into flowering and my plant has shown absolutely no signs of sexing. No pistils, no pollen sacs, nothing. The only thing that's changed is that the node spacing has decreased significantly: < 1/2 in. Until now, I've considered this a pretty strong plant all around, no problems...

So I've been growing DWC for a while now and I'm looking to start a bigger grow with a top drip system. Thing is, I really like using hydroton and all the top drip systems I've seen use rockwool slabs. Is there a good way to use hydroton with a top drip?
