I have my plants in 12/12 in a closet. How sealed does the closet have to be for flowering to be successful? Is it ok for some light to leak in, through the vent low down and through cracks in the door etc? There isn't much getting in, just a tiny bit.

One of my plants, was 7 weeks vegging, grown from seed was put under 12/12 one week ago. There are still no buds forming, a few pre-flowering hairs, but no buds. Is this normal? How long before buds appear? It's a grapefruit strain in soil, appears healthy now about 8 weeks old.

Is it possible to let plants veg for too long, missing the right time for flowering? Mine are 7 weeks old now and are showing pre-flowering signs. Have I missed the optimum time to send them into flowering?
