Looks real nice. Since you asked for thoughts: don't defoliate unless your humidity is a problem. Prune suckers and other non-canopy twigs, sure. But leaves catch light and make sugar!

    Elk River (GG4/Choc D. x 79 X-mas)

Going fairly well. I'm pleased with the plant with larger buds since it's growing right so far. If I can select down from such a small sampling with these F3s and get one like this, it works for my purposes at this point. Still gotta smoke it to be sure. The landrace sativa ones aren't done...

I don't know. I run a 300W hood at 25% and 24". I bump it up to maybe 40% as they near transplant. It's a 2x2 tent, so it's pretty intense light. But 12/12 still restricts growth in my setup. I have some little ones going at 18/6 which are growing much more aggressively.

Got a little something in the lineup myself. Some F3s just getting near the end of the stretch. Well, I think. Two of these are going landrace sativa! Been on 12/12 from seed, and small enough they may be water-only. But like kayaganja, may topdress soon to be safe.

The tent smells like it should. A mildly sweet ganja draft. A couple of the plants are showing some heavy sativa bud structure. Reminds me of the F1, and makes me think it's the Thai influence. One really looks and grows like the F3 (their seed mom) with the white, puffy, round pistil...

They've put on a couple more inches. Another indication I'm chasing the right genes is if these get still twice as big as they are now. I kept one down to three feet by cloning and going to flower quickly. This is the first time I've grown them on just 12/12 to see if that helps. These also...

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

The risk with selfing is the seeds have a greater chance to express recessive genes. If the plant being selfed (making S1 seeds) is more stable with dominant genes, it's less of a risk of recessive expression. If you want to express recessives, it's a good tool. Just depends on what you're...

Do I have too many small sites?

I wrestle with this question every grow. I think some plants do better with smaller sites and some like the main big ones. I've gotten dense mids from one plant, but larfy trash from the one next to it, both from the same seed pack. I even ran a clone of a plant, genetics I'm otherwise...

    Elk River (GG4/Choc D. x 79 X-mas)

Yeah, that's what I was thinking when I said that. Just backcross stabilizing. Not sure if I want to inbreed it that much. The more I learn about this the more work I realize probably needs done. Hell, I'm still exploring nuances of these genes. I'm not 100% sure what expressions are from...

Roots in the reservoirs, stretch is full on with pistils clustering. I pruned the skirts today, the little branches that won't grow into the light. If the plants get big enough to need it, I'll prune suckers off, too. The one is a bit bushier. This is more what I'm looking for overall.

Soil mix for landrace sativa (indoors led)?

Glad you came back to this thread. I was thinking about it just last week. Can you post some photos?

I'm no longer in a position to pursue this project, so I'll put it on hold. I've turned it into a test run, saving four females. It will be good to know if how I'm selecting gives me the high I want through these F3s. They're untopped and already on 12/12. Seeing some solid uniformity.

    AK Bean Brains

Growing, it all smelled like nondescript skunky weed. Even stem rubs were just kinda skunk. Got a little sweeter as it ripened, but stayed skunky overall.

Harvest went well for the M10/Purest Indica. Significant differences are apparent. The airy bud at bottom right is the stoniest of the bunch, bringing some cheesy baby shit. The rest smell a bit hay-like, but are sweetish otherwise (especially on the grind). I've sown some seeds from the...

Test run of Elk River F3. Just hitting sexual maturity, already on 12/12. Need to re-up the supply, too. Will be filling the reservoirs soon.

    Elk River (GG4/Choc D. x 79 X-mas)

Plants drooped for a day in transplant shock, then took off. I'm guessing the roots got established on that heat mat while the foliage stalled, and now that the air is warm, the roots can really work. Waiting on gender at this point. I'll probably top them in a bit. Elk River gets tall even...

    Making soil for containers

I do this regularly. Matter of fact, I have four SIPS in my flower tent waiting for plants while the insects and micros break down the brown tree leaves and green cannabis leaves. I have also used fresh alfalfa. I keep all such amendments in larger chunks to help with aeration (full leaves...

Plant Cloning Issues, What's Going On?

I run my pump nonstop. Don't know if your stems will dry in there, but you don't want that. A couple stems in your pics look like the bottom cm is withered/shrunk.

Trimming is done, heat is up. The plants responded quickly. I selected eight for the IBL and saved four interesting ones. This is four of the eight (far back from above). Of the other four, there is a weird stunty one; the one like the F1; the more GG4-looking one; and another that's...
