When should i start and what is the time frame from germination to smoke?

I will keep it short and sweet. I was wondering if it is possible to grow indoors using light from a window source rather than lamps. If so, what is a good quality easy to grow seed, and when is a good time to start in the South East United States region. I know I want a short indica I think...
