Wow Fractus, I think I'm going to try that now. You don't think the heat from the lights would cause melting/deformation of the styrofoam do you?

I'll keep that in mind. Another guide on a differant site suggested using Miracle Gro or Eco Gro. Is Eco Gro not good either?

Yeah, I've been reading that. A lot to take in. I'm going to buy some materials to make my grow cabinet once I get paid, I'll post some pics and see what you guys think. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the tip. I see that theres a lot to learn but I work much better if I try something and learn from my mistakes rather than trying to know it all and put everything into one shot.

Looking at the guides here, they all seem to be oriented towards people doing large grow-ops with many plants. Could someone direct me to a guide intended for someone who just wants to grow a plant or two for personal use and not drop 100's of dollars on equipment?
