To get my seeds to germinate i just get a cup of water and put the seeds in it for 2-3 days in the sun and every single one comes out perfect

So today i just bought all the basic supplies: soil, a light, and a fan. I have it set up in my closet and just planted the germinated seeds, 1 or 2 in each small pot. My light is hanging about 2 feet above the pots. It is a 500w work light or whatever. Should I raise or lower the light? Will it...
