    Chickadie's never ending grow journal

No, not the name of the strain. Calyxes is the correct name, and foxtail is a common name for the little purple petal/flower looking thing on the top of the bud.

Just thought I'd post a pretty picture of one of the purple calyxes/foxtails that P4 has formed.

Yellow leaves, but can't figure out the cause!

Okay - yes, just collect the water at the bottom, and pH that using that runoff water. I recommend watering with a pH of 6.5 - 6.8. But you want your runoff between 6.5 - 6.8, so you may need to adjust the pH going in depending on your soil. Most soils contain enough nutrients for 3-4 weeks...

Yellow leaves, but can't figure out the cause!

Do you know what your pH is on your run off? What type of soil is that? How old is the plant? are you giving any added nutrients?

My First Grow - Pruning Help Needed

Wow lots of questions! But good questions! I'm going to hit a few of them, and let someone else grab the rest. I, personally, am a topper. The first pic is a plant where I "topped" multiple times. (ie, I top once, then wait for it to grow 2 tops, then top both of those, for 4 tops, and so on...

    Chickadie's never ending grow journal

haha! well he's quite supportive of what has become a passion/hobby for me - but he sees how addicted I am to it, too. He thinks if he joins in, the plants will automatically die. :) But I will definitely keep posting about the progress of my plants.

I'm not cloning anybody right now. Going to put her into flowering with the hempy buckets in about 30 days or so. I have some Short Term Amnesia autos and some AK47 autos that I want to try out. Still trying to convince my significant other that I need 1 more space for plants :)

    Chickadie's never ending grow journal

well -- she's not a mother - she's just a plant that's been in veg for about 60 days. She's just a big plant. Tried to kill her (on purpose) a few times -- but the darn thing, won't die. :) here she is about a week ago... she is LST'd

How long do plants veg for?

I would without question invest in the 2700k bulbs - either HPS or in Flouros/CFLs Personally, I would get the ballast - especially if you plan to continue to grow. Your yield will be much greater with an HPS You should be able to pickup a 400-watt ballast for around $65 on 1000bulbs.com...

How long do plants veg for?

This is going to be an easy one! Just change your light schedule to 12 hours on, and 12 hours off. You want to make sure that you have ZERO light leaks in your space, as light leaks are the #1 cause of hermies. You'll want to avoid going in or out of the grow space when the lights are out - so...

How long do plants veg for?

Thank you Super Dave! Someone from his site (via a google search) inspired me to try perlite hempy buckets - so, I thought I'd join.

How long do plants veg for?

I'm sorry -- I have to disagree with you on this one - as I have seen many mother plants kept alive/healthy for MUCH longer than 4 months in a 5-gallon pot.

    Topping? Northern lights x skunk....

Personally, I top everything... but whether to scrog or top - that's gonna be a personal choice. I think scrog will give you more yield than topping... but that's my opinion.

How long do plants veg for?

oh - I'm sorry. I node is like a joint (the body kind not the smoking kind). Either where a branch comes out of, or where a leaf is/was attached to the stem.

How long do plants veg for?

How long to veg your plants is somewhat of a personal choice. Plants tend to double or triple in size during the flower stage, so some people may need to put their plants into flowering earlier in order to prevent any height issues during flowering. Ideally you would wait until the plants have...

    Chickadie's never ending grow journal

Hi everybody! I am brand new here, but I figured I'd start by introducing my grow(s) - since they are far more interesting than I am. I started growing in November of last year (2009). My very first plants are the bagseeds mentioned in this grow... some are 30+ days into flowering and some are...
