    Strip lights, and unusual LEDs

COBs are the future and the cheapest to run etc all roads point to those. But what if you built something or had them laying around like this? Assuming correct output CRI etc of the strips?

Got some free COB's with cheap drivers, what shall I do with them?

Here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20W-50W-New-High-Power-White-LED-Light-Lamp-Chip-Panel-Power-Driver-Waterproof-/261889756872?var=&hash=item0 It wasn't this exact auction, but i'm fairly certain it's the same relist. I think they're "Genesis's 30 Mil", and i've found this...

    2 drivers 1 cob

This seems a really cool way to get a cheap 3 stage sloppy dimmer? CXA3070 350mA Driver & 700mA Driver in parallel or singularly. GIves you the 350,700,1050 choices we most likely use and cheap!? Debating... Or 700mA & 1050mA driver? :D

    Heatsinks for DIY LED lamps

I know this isn't the cheapest, but you get a lot of quality for your money, and passively with some minimal moving air over it, i'd imagine it would be awesome? here

    DiY LED - Cree CXA3070

Ok thanks for clarifying that a bit more, I have a few very high efficiency PSU's kicking about I thought I may be able to run cheaper step up regulators from - seems not. Then I thought what about a PSU that fits the bill to create a decent rail to run buck converters off. But even assuming...

    DiY LED - Cree CXA3070

Ok next thought I have bubbling away, please do tell me to shut up if necessary... Would this cheap standard 600mA Buck Regulator LED Driver for 20W High Power LED Power a cxa3070, assuming you were giving it a correct DC input? It states upto 96% efficient. Would it be worth looking...

    DiY LED - Cree CXA3070

Yeah, ok I was thinking something like old phone chargers and network box power adapters maybe. But ultimately I was hoping there would be a little something like...

    DiY LED - Cree CXA3070

I'm genuinely exhausted. I think i've pretty much read everything from start to finish in this thread. But i'm overwhelmed. :D I'm not even sure what is on or off topic any more and if I'm even worthy of posting in this thread. But just in case!.... Obviously the more I read the more I keep...

    36v vs 77v comparisons pros & cons?

I see everyone recommending the 36v versions of the cree COBs, but i see there are 77v versions too. There are a few mentions about them throughout the forum, but n one really seems to be using them? Is there a specific reason why? Less efficient? Drivers not as easy to come by? Just...

Have we looked at clever ways to hang yet? (and/or side lighting)

Thanks for the quick reply gusy :) That's fine, I was worried my search-fu was weak! What you guys are doing for the community in terms of research is unsurpassed if i'm honest. Don't put yourselves down! You've shaped pretty much how I look at everything LED! Maybe long lengths of extruded...

Have we looked at clever ways to hang yet? (and/or side lighting)

I can't seem to find much about searching. How is everyone hanging their various DIY efforts? Any particularly clever ways to make them adjustable. Individually adjustable with regard to the classic 3070/Apline cooler combo? Or for the most part do we not need to worry about how close...

Quiet at the back please! (Stealthiest hydro?)

Ok, so I'd really like to dip my toes into something hydro. I'm hoping something a bit more autonomous, something that I can control more, and most importantly increase yield and/or cut grow time. So a miracle please. But in all seriousness I've been using soil forever, yes it works, but I...

    DIY COB reflectors

In terms of raw numbers there already, that's showing quite a gain from nothing to even *something* before you even take into account the angle of incidence etc... There is a lot more work to do, but as usual you're forging ahead with real numbers and results. Awesome!

    The easy route? Grow tents/kits?

Hmmm homebox seem decent, except there's nothing near Edinburgh... HTGSupply are US right? I guess i'll keep looking for a decent value but easy all together kit for now... I've yet to clean out the closet properly it will sit in either :p

    The easy route? Grow tents/kits?

Sooooo last year i started a DIY grow, it was all going great, but had to move flat and its was far too much hassle bringing everything with me, which sucked. So now i'm settled again. Now i'm thinking about starting over again :) But i think i might just go for broke this time, a nice tent...

Totally new to this! First grow: Journal

Yeah man venting through a carbon filter, stirrer 120mm fan and exhaust 120mm fan, its barely adequate though. When i move to my wardrobe (eventually) i'll be lining up 120mm fans i suspect since i have so many going spare from the years of computer builds!

Totally new to this! First grow: Journal

Some random tomato nutes from garden centre which have the same npk as everywhere i've read advise. I have tired and failed to fine decent flowering nutes so far though. Seem very hard to get hold of!

Totally new to this! First grow: Journal

Yeeeeah i totally understand, thing is they'll still grow, seems to be pretty hard to actually kill the buggers past this stage :p The wardrobe once acquired will come with updates and much finer control over temps and Ph. Hopefully i'll see some REAL results!
