That interesting. I might try that. As it happens the paper towel if between two plates which largely preclude light but not air do mildew hasn't been a problem to date. Okay - looks like the consensus is that the seeds are duff and I will have to start again.

This is a paper towel. I can only reiterate that it's a method which has been 100% successful in the past, and bearing in mind that total immersion in a glass of water if a suitable method of germination, is it possible to get it too wet?
