    You would need a lot more info to know that. If he's going the 220 route he is much less likely to need a service upgrade.

    If the feeders are sized right it doesn't matter, it will trip if it goes over 50A, which it never would. The way he's set up now any one of those #10's could overheat and melt.

    I wonder if the just swapped a 150A main into the existing panel? As long as the panel and meter base are rated for it that's fine. Around where I live you don't need any permit for electrical and the only inspection is the poco making sure feeders are landed on a breaker.

    Noob here, but dude you can't land #10's on a 40A. I'm not even sure why you ran #10, as you only used 20A receptacles. The only problem with the three wires is the possibility of a bad connection. Three double pull 20's would be a better option all around. You also wouldn't lose power to...
