Thoughts on root zone ventilation, drowned seedlings, hydro, RW, hydroton

RW is above the water line, so it doesn't get wet. I've been watering 4x a day in the early stage and using the fan a lot, they have been doing well, not over watered. Thanks for the tip

    Seedling problems; help! (pics included)

Yea, my thermo set the heat a bit too high, and in this dry NE weather, the humidity plunged. Seems like my RW is drying out and pulling moisture from the roots/hydroton with it, so I put plastic across the hydroton basket to keep moisture in the root zone, brought the [dissolved solutes] down...

    Seedling problems; help! (pics included)

I'm running a E+F system and was gone for the weekend, came back to the plants looking like this. I think the lights might have burnt them or they dried out a bit, other thoughts? rez EC: 405ppm pH: 5.7 rez temp: 67F air temp: high 70s humidity: found it at <20% when I came back home, I think...

    Led Users Unite!

I hear you both... I have a VERY SMALL set-up; I was given a 2'x2' E+F as a present and rather than go with a 600W HPS or something, I decided I'd try out some of these (relatively cheap) LEDs instead. Might upgrade to something more serious, with a HPS, someday... And if these suck, I will...

HR and others, would love to hear your thoughts on a few things... (1) Have you ever ventilated your root zone? Tried blowing air in? I have my E+F baskets covered and a fan hooked up to blow air into the root zone...I'm only at the seedling stage, but I am hoping this might be good way to...

Thoughts on root zone ventilation, drowned seedlings, hydro, RW, hydroton

Stumbled across this site a few weeks ago and have been absorbing knowledge since. There is an absurd amount of information on this site... I'm a n00b to hydro and started some seeds in 1" RW, eventually transfered into hydroton on a E+F table. Got some bad info from another site and planted...
