I had this problem when I first setup my home made aeroponic unit. Get some window weatherstripping, and put it on the inside part of the lid. Measure how big the lip is on the actual tub, and put your Weatherstripping inside the lip of the lid. May want to get some spring clamps to help hold...

The spring clamps were for holding the lid on nice and tight when I had a small problem with it leaking. After I got the weather stripping on there it seems to be fine. I've just been lazy and didn't take the clamps off yet..
