This is similar to the "how strong can tinctures get" thread but I hope it's different enough to warrant a new thread.
I made a tincture last year with weed that, for various reasons, just wasn't very strong. I made the first round with shake: packed a mason jar, added 190 proof Everclear...
For the people who have tried this technique: do you think it would work with strains other than cubes? I want to try to grow something native to the Pacific Northwest. Would something like wavy cap cyans work in this system?
Well, the cheaper tent means we can spend more on the light. We went with the low- profile model, hope that wasn't a mistake!
Thanks again to everyone who helped with advice!
Thanks for the responses! The big tent wouldn't be completely filled, I just had the space and figured the plants would be happier with some air around them. I wasn't trying to cover the whole square surface area with a scrog or anything like that.
I'd kind of ruled out HPS/DE HPS due to...
Hi all. I've currently got two older 90W Hans panels in a tiny grow tent and will be moving to a bigger grow space soon. The new space is 4' x 8' so I'm pretty sure I am going to need to get some more photons bouncing around in there.
I was all ready to just get the new 150W Hans panel, but I...
A decarboxylator? What is that? Do you mean a dehydrator? The whole problem was that the non-decarbed material was already in the alcohol. Next time I'll decarb beforehand, no doubt!
Well, they're all done and bottled up. I swished my drink around in the last jar after I was done bottling, and now I'm feeling pretty good and just invented a sandwich, so I am calling this technique a success.
For reference, the temp was able to get up to 175F with the crockpot on high and a...
I'm certainly not in a hurry, these have sat for months already. No problem waiting a few more weeks!
I wrapped a towel around the top of the crockpot (leaving the jar mouth exposed) and that lets the temp get up a bit higher. If nothing else, the alcohol's reduced by at least half so SOMETHING...
Well, I've had my tincture in a water bath in a crockpot for hours now. Temp is only up to around 150 in the hottest of the jars. The liquid is reducing fast; I hope there is at least some decarboxylating happening in there too.
OK, I was under the impression that Everclear at that temperature would be a huge flame.
Would a crock pot hit the right temperature?
Would it be less explosive if one added water to the alcohol mixture?
Strain the plant material out first or no?
I would like to piggyback on this if I may. I have some jars of tincture that aren't working at all. I filled the jar with fresh trim (mostly sugar leaves and little popcorn buds), topped up with Everclear, and put one in the freezer and the rest in a cabinet. Shook them every time I thought...
