Nute Burn: How to cool down the heat on FFOF

The only soil I've ever had to seriously 'amend' was clay soil, other than that, I hate spending money on treated soil, only to turn around and spend more money on getting it to where I want it to be, for my grow. Are you in Africa?

Nute Burn: How to cool down the heat on FFOF

Now, even THAT makes more sense, and more people are reverting back to the more natural, common sense means of soil enrichment and planting over buying already amended - or over over amended soil. Thank you!

You're welcome. And allow me to express my apologies for assuming something that clearly doesn't apply here. Have a great day!

Nute Burn: How to cool down the heat on FFOF

Duly noted, and thanks for the reminder. And your right about the emotional control comment, too. After pulling a double shift in the ER (We're still dealing with July 4th incidents) I came back to read and relax, because I like and learn from the topics here. Definitely could have handled that...

Nute Burn: How to cool down the heat on FFOF

Whether his comment is sound or not is irrelevant to me. He gives half-answers as if they're the whole answers, and then presents it like it's gospel. I'm not a gardener by trade, but I really think I have enough background in the sciences to define/explain a process - correctly - and i don't...

Nute Burn: How to cool down the heat on FFOF

I really have no time for your hostility. You entered into this conversation, took my words out of context, and started throwing your weight around, like some kid in need of attention. Then when I didn't respond the way you expected, you got even more obnoxious. Now, where I work, it's not...

Nute Burn: How to cool down the heat on FFOF

Where do you get your information from? "Flushing" is term that's been used in relation to soil for centuries -CENTURIES! As I said before, flushing is not an act of removing nutrients ---which it does --- it's the process by which you make nutrients available to a root system that is being...

Yeah, you're doing everything right...absolutely perfect. Great. Now, can we get back to the community discussion on how to GROW A CROP...WITH CONFIDENCE...RECOGNIZING TRIAL AND ERROR AS A NECESSARY PART OF LEARNING...WITHOUT CONCERN OF BEING CONDEMNED OR BELITTLED FOR DOING SO...

    Powdery Mildew help

Abe! I did the same thing, taking a few clones from my plants after topping off my soil, but before the infestation was detected. So, the same organic fungicide/pesticides I used to fix the infestation, I'm using on my clones as a preventative. That's why I strongly advise getting started on a...

    Powdery Mildew help

Polishpollack is right. Mildew isn't going anywhere. Those spores will be there until the day you clean everything, and even then, you're going to have to stay on of it. Mildew shouldn't be taken lightly, and frankly, from what I'm reading now, you should look for preventatives that are both...

    The Truth About Flushing

C'mon, it was proven that the amount of real danger in that area was a 'fraction' of what actually occurred, to which you can thank the media, as this was in the early stages of their presenting themselves as 'authorities' of all things they knew little to nothing about (I have cousins still...

Solution to make water be absorbed into to top of soil when watering dry top-surface?

Seriously? You don't cover the top of your soil with the clay media used by hydro growers and others using soil? You can water without worry, and it helps to keep a good distance between plant and anything growing in the soil that could threaten your plants (gnats, and other buggies)...

Nute Burn: How to cool down the heat on FFOF

Exactly, Nug. Being from Sonoma County, I've been mixing my own soil since '96 (Alot of people don't know how "Clay-ey" this part of the state is), so I give props to the quality of Humboldt's nutrients, considering the area we live, work and play. At this point, if I am going back to mixing it...

Nute Burn: How to cool down the heat on FFOF

Thanks for the confirmation and the correction, Michigan! FFOF is not hot, but I when I see my girls get that brown tip and edge,, I think burn ->hot= pissed farmer! lol And really, it's not all that big of a step to flush/water before planting. Being unable to move about freely here, I have...

Nute Burn: How to cool down the heat on FFOF

Yeah, that's a good idea, too. I used to mix mine with Happy Frog, but darn it! I'm getting tired of buying what is supposed to be "All you need," only to have to further amend to make it workable. I'm not naive in expecting it to be perfect, but I would appreciate not having to learn the lesson...

Nute Burn: How to cool down the heat on FFOF

I used the FFOF in the cup, but it seems like when I transplant it into more FFOF (with perlite to aerate and lighten it up), and check the ph/ppm, the strength of nutes rises again. That's with distilled water, too, so I'm trying to keep things as neutral as possible.

Nute Burn: How to cool down the heat on FFOF

That's right. FoxFarm's soil is too expensive and too nuted for me. I started using this a few years ago, and I loved how it jumpstarted my seeds, and the speed of root growth. But in every case, once I transplanted from cup to earth pot, I had to deal with nute burn. At first, I thought it was...
