Lst is the easiest thing out there. Just bend er over good in veg so the side branches get some good light. Will trigger them to grow like a cola. You can also cut top portion of the plant off to create 2 colas. Super simple and only delays a week max. Lst doesn't delay at all. Maybe a day...

From what I have experienced, it helps with trich production, size and density. But I've never done shorter plants. I honestly think shorter is better for indoor and hydro. Easier to distribute nutes?

Yeah it doesn't look like mold. What kind of lights are you using ? Sorry for all the questions. I've seen this through a fungus in the soil creating some sort of deficiency , lights being to close, led light creating bleaching, or being too warm in the grow space/ canopy. That's my experience.
