1000 watt hps people...

for all you HID light people, please let us know how often you change your bulbs?

I know peeps who change them every other cycle (4 months) and i know people who havent changed them in two years!

I'll start it off...

I change my 1000 watt hps super hortilux bulbs about every: eight months.

I have 2 1000 hps lights in my flower room and recently change 1 bulb after about 4 harvests and there is a huge difference between the 2. and they are the same bulb. I am a beliver that they start to faid after awhile

HPS ANY WATTAGE:

HOW OFTEN DO YOU CHANGE YOUR BULBS?
WHAT BRAND/TYPE OF BULB DO YOU HAVE?

good thread, would be nice to see some more posts. I wish I could help ya out, but I have had the same two bulbs for two or three years and I just switch them every time I switch a garden. Does it help with life? Hell I dunno, its why I started trying it tho

"You can expect only a 10% decrease in lumens over a bulbs 3 year (24/7) lifetime." from HTG Supplies website. That is for their 150w system however.

I would not change the bulb except every year. Reason being is the cost of a new 1000watt bulb. Why would you want to constantly replace something that cost that much?

bcuz if new bulbs increase your yield by even a half ounce than it payed for its self two times over.

My friend just switched his year+ old bulbs and went from 3.5 pounds to 5+ pounds.
He got 5+ the first couple of times when he first bought the set up.

I think the relectors dull as well :(

not sure if the refectors go dull but I now they do get dirty after awhile I always wash them after a harvest and brings back the shine

My lights definitely start to fade after about 6 months but not enough to worry about until about 9 months. I try to replace my 400s and 1000 watt at least once a year if not twice.

*tip: Pure rubbing alcohol works well for bringing the shine back on your reflectors. 90% is best if u can find it.
