Before i go to the hydro shop. if all things are equal what will yeald more?

My take is 1000w is around 150000 lumens and 600w is about 95000 lumes

So would 1 1000w with more penetrating power properly penetrate more or just
about the same distance as 2 600s side by side? Its been asked before im sure.

obviously the 1000 would develop bigger buds but the 600s would have a further
light spectrum density am i right? whats your thoughts on this

yea thats what i thought actually but is it true that lumens dont double penetrating power, like 2 600w hps have less penetration of a 1000w?

No. Point a flashlight at a wall, then point two flashlights at the wall. Light is additive. Are you going to use 2x600w in one hood or two hoods? I think spreading them out is best, much larger canopy size.

I agree. 2 600W would allow you to cover a larger area. More light penetration also. I personally would go with the 2 600W

I was thinking about running 2 600s in here just vertically hanging bare bulbs since the space is not so huge then hook up my 6inch inline fan to the top ceiling to blow hot air outside then cut about half inch of wood off the bottom bathroom door for cool air to flow threw. then ill just leave a window open in another room for cool outside air ive dont it with a 1000w before and had no problems in a different house

I'll say this man.. I had 2 600 w in a 4x4x7 tent and I battled the heat in the spring and summer.. Sold the 2 600w and picked up a Mutliwatt ballast from lumatek and I have to say I love the ability to step up the light wattage. It's a 1000w ballast that has a setting for 600w, 750w, 1000w, and super lumens. All I do is change the bulb and turn the switch to proper setting to match bulb wattage. It's awesome! I also have the 400w for veg that also runs a 250w. Look into it man.. In that space you will use just as much wattage to keep it cool as you will running both 600's. At least with the multi watt you can also adjust wattage to the season and weather. And the ability to step up wiil help with electric bill. Just a thought .

That's what I have now too. I have a 4x4x7 and I wouldn't try 2x600w's in there. Too much of a battle. I use the dimmable ballast. I don't even buy different bulbs, just dim it down. If the temps are up one day, I just dim it to 600w until the temps drop.

yea im gonna go with the 2 600s as soon as i find clones ill post up the grow it should be all setup to be ready to run in about a month. As soon as i sell my 1000w
im gonna buy my buddys 2 600s then i can run one or both also i have about 300w of actual cfl watts i could run if i only run 1 600 but 2 should be no problem my house
is no more than 60 degrees at night, with 2 600s and an inline fan i think it would be around 86 with both lights on with my 1000 it was 84

The only argument I've ever heard against dimming the 1000w bulb is that it lowers the lifespan of the bulb. I change my bulb every grow so that's negligible to me. 600w and 1000w bulbs cost nearly the same so I'd be buying twice as many bulbs or changing every other grow, it just wouldnt' ever make any difference so why bother?
