12 x 12 Room 6000 Watt Sealed Co2 or 8000 Open Ventilation

Wassup Rollitup! So I have an option between 6 1000 Watt Sealed Co2 or 8000 Watt unsealed no co2. Reason being I have the gear for both setups besides an AC unit but I can grab 2 12k btu window units that fit my budget and will perfectly cool 6 lights(using the other two spots on my 8 light controller for the ac unit). It would be an ideal sealed environment.

The other option is too do an open room with 8 lights but the space will be harder to get around. I’m not able to find an AC unit that’ll cool that many lights within my budget for it to be completely sealed. I would also have to wire a separate breaker for the cooling unit also.

This is a sog all organic soil grow in 2 gallon fabric pots which do you think will be more productive?

Well windows units aren't sealed and will exchange some air with the outside, this could make odor control and CO2 supplementation a little difficult.

If it were me I would use a minisplit or stick with the vented option and no AC.

If you go sealed and intend to run when it's cool outside the window ac units will freeze up, usually start doing that when it's in the lower 50's and colder outside. So you would want a backup ventilation system.

Running sealed also means more dehumidification and that means more heat for the AC units.

Ive heard a mix of the window units leaking but from what I know there is a damper option that makes it to where the window banger will only recirculate the air that’s already in the room instead of mixing it with the outside air. I’m not too concerned about smell either. And for the humidity my area is strangely quite dry for Southern Oregon. As long as I size the ac too match my cooling needs. I’m quite sure the humidity will be in check. But who knows You can never be too sure.

but good point on the cold weather. I may have to do more research on that but I could also just switch to an open room 6k grow and use vents instead of the ac to cool during the winter times. Not sure how it would do with 8000 watts tho but I know forsure I can cool 6k during the colder times with just ventilation.

Well the problems tend to arise later in the cycle when you have a lot of biomass and your lights are off for 12 hours a day, the AC's aren't cooling they aren't dehumidifying.

Once you g e t it dialed in you'll be glad it's sealed. Then you really are in total control of your environment and you won t bring in any bad stuff with outside air. With pre and exhaust filters and a good fan the expense is high enough to justify a/c. Plus with co2 y ou can and should run the room temp higher than non co2. I agree that a mini split is best but you are also correct you won't lose the co2 with your window a/c baffles closed. I'm trying to make a dual hose a/c work and that's a challenge. I want a mini split but I love my wife more. Good luck.
