Hey Guys,

Long time reader first time poster.

I have just started my first a small grow closet 4 foot high with a base 3 foot x 2-1/2 foot. I am using DWC and currently have 5 plants each just a few inches tall. From these 5 plants I only want to end with two flowering girls.

I have purchase 5 x 130W CFL 6400K fluros rated at 8,000 lumens each (http://www.aussieponics.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=22)

Currently I have my 5 babies under 3 of these CFL's. I also have a 225 LED system (165 red & 60 blue) to the side. I wasn't very impressed with the LED lighting but you get what you pay for and it was a cheapie. I thought I might as well install it seeing as though I purchased it. http://www.aussieponics.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=98

I am still rather confused about lighting in general despite reading quite a lot. For now, my questions is how many of the above CFL's would be suggested for 5 vegetating plants, and then finally when the time comes - two flowering plants? I want to keep vegetation low but bushy, maybe only 2 foot high before I flower. I don't have unrealistic expectations but a nice crop from two plants would be cool.

The space is small and even with my fans running (2 blowing and one extraction fan) my temps are still up around 90 degrees - for this reason I want to use as few lights as possible to counter balance the temp issues I am having. In the name of stealth my cabinet is completely sealed without leaking any light with the exception of a breather hole and one extraction hole, which is likely the reason for the high temperatures.

Thanks for any help. I have enjoyed learning and then building my current grow closet and it seems like a cool hobby with green benefits, I am hoping for reasonable results.

the more lights you put on them while in veg the faster they will grow. I would not veg them 2 feet high unless you supercrop or lst them. the cfls will have a hard time penetrating to the lower bud sites. plus you can kind of count on them growing three times the size when you flower them. So if you have 1 foot plants you will need 3 feet of space to flower them plus space for the hardware. you should def get some reasonable results! good luck and happy farming
