JUST BEEN WATCHING THE T.H.C SEED COMPANY SLOT ON YOU TUBE.I KNOW THAT THESE GUYS KNOW THERE STUFF I AM NOT DISPUTEING THAT.BUT ON THE 4 SECTION SLOT ONE OF THE GROWERS THE 1 THAT LOOKS AFTER THE PLANTS ONCE THEY HIT THE FLOWERING ROOM THE GUY SAID, HE PUTS THE PLANTS ON 12/12 OFF FOR 10 WEEK THEN THEY PUT THE PLANTS ON JUST WATER TO FLUSH OUT ANY NUTRIENTS I DO THE SAME UP TO THIS POINT.BUT THEN IN THE LAST 2 WEEK THEY GIVE THE BUDDED PLANTS 14 HOURS OF LIGHT ANY ONE EVER TRIED THIS.THE GUY SAYS THAT THIS FORCES THE BUDDS TO SWELL EVEN MORE NOT SURE ON THIS ONE:leaf:.

Excellent question, after reading your post I watched the video. These guys seem to test various methods and compare results, if they say it works I'm defiantly going to try it myself. Anyone have any additional information on this?

If this experiment about the 14 hrs of light late in flowering to swell buds is true, then that seems to put some of us at a crossroads.

It is my experience that if you decrease the hours of light to 10 - 11 hrs per day late in flowering, it increases the resin production a slight amount.

So, do we want more yield or stickier buds...

Decisions, decisions...

I think the debate over more resin or more yield can be answered depending on the reasons why you choose to grow. If you are looking to grow the finest possible herb you can smoke I would think that more resin should be your goal. On the other hand if your goals are more distribution based it would probably make more sense to try and fatten them up, assuming this technique actually has an effect. Would be really interesting to do a large scale controlled test on this topic. Maybe one day when I'm out of my moms basement and have all the space I could possibly wish for.

This method has actually been around for quite awhile (at least a few years).

The idea is to get the plants well established on a 12-12 schedual of flowering - then switch to 14-10 (or so). The theory is that the 2 "extra hours" of light is enough to improve bud developement - but not so much that it reverts the plant back into "vegging".

There is a theorhetical threshhold of "Hours of uninterupted darkness" that the plant uses as a guideline to "Shift gears" between vegging and flowering (or vice versa). It takes about 12 hours, or more, of darkness to "shift' into flowering - but it takes about 10 hours, or less, of darkness to "shift" back into vegging. That is why you have a couple of hours to play with!

speaking of nutes.. do you really need them?..like so far im just growing in miracle grow potting soil and using nothing but water, and it is growing just fine. is the addiction of nutes and what not just incease the size and yeild?

once ur plant uses up the neuts already in the soil it will be looking for MORE!!!! ide give it 1//4 strength of recommended dose to start then very slowly build up the dose, grow nutes for VEG bloom+boost for FLOWER.

IF U HAD 1 PLANT GROWN WITH JUST WATER AND ANOTHER OF THE EXACT SAME GENETICS USING NUTES THE FED PLANT WILL OBVIOUSLY SHOW MORE YEILD AND MORE POTENCY!!
