omg i feel dumb. but im pissed too. i freakin tried asking everyone about using surge protectors, no one answered my Q's. ugh, so... i had plugged a surge protector into a high watt timer w/ a 600 & 1000. I screwed up setting the times on the timer and set it for 6 hours light :(

it was like that for a few days and i kept wondering why i had to turn on the stuff manually. i figured out my timer situation last night and went to bed thinking... ahhh finally.

well sh!t... the stupid F'n surge protector shuts off automatically to the off setting when the timer trips off. so my lights werent coming on at 6 am like they should have and i just caught them now at almost 3pm. GRRR!!! i wish someone could have warned me...

problem is... i was just about to start flowering these things. last night i switched the settings on the timer to 12/12.
but they've had at least 12 or more hours dark for the past few days now... Am i stuck flowering these plants now?

they have gotten a little weak from the lack of light, and the temps got low which screws up everything... I'd like to veg them for a few days to get them healthy again. is this not possible??

and finally: what should i do today. should i just let the timer shut off at 6 pm? i need the times to co-op with the daylight times to avoid light leaks. at least for now.

thank you so much for taking the time to read this, im not a rookie, i just messed up :( now i need someone's exp to help.

dang man it would be nice if someone could give me a shout of advice before 6-7pm eastern time.

the basic question(i suppose): should i worry about the lack of proper light for a few days effecting my plants(which it did slightly), when im starting to flower at first?

Asking if you should worry is an odd question. Worrying won't solve anything nor will it hurt anything so... worry if you want to...

My input is that there's a pretty decent chance you'll have some hermies, and maybe a 30% chance you'll be just fine. I once had my plants in the dark for about 36 hours when I lost power. They were in their first week of bloom, and besides a little shock (causing lower yields I think), they turned out fine.

I wouldn't put them back in veg now that they have experienced the change in photoperiod. Seems to me you'd just be adding more stress. I would adjust the light schedule to 12/12 immediately rather than shutting it off at 6 tonight, but if you can't because of the light showing then just get back to normal tomorrow and watch them. Adding some b vitamins or one of the additives that contain them will help a bit with the shock but I'd expect to have them looking a bit sad for 7-10 days before they pick back up. Hope this helps you a bit in your stressful time.

ya but 6/18 off is more stress then 12/12 and if u go back to veg then switch back to flower in a few days its gonna fuck ur shit up. i recomment just keeping them in the flower mode. i had a plant do this in my last batch i fucked up my timers i went from 18 on to 12 on back to 18 on then. it messed them up so bad my plant leaves only grow 1 blade and its a dude now. so i pulled it out and gonna make me some God Bud seeds from it.

defently just keep it in flower. much less stress on the plant. less stress = more weight.

Most surge protectors are only good for 13 amps at 120 volts = 1560 watts. HID lights have a in rush of power when started (larger amp draw). I wouldn't use surge protection at the receptacle install one in your main electrical panel for the entire house, this type won't trip. You need to be feeding this receptacle that you plug into with 12 gauge wire and protect it with a 20 amp breaker. 15 amp breaker will trip @ 1440 watts 12 amps. 20amp breaker @ 1920 watts 16amps . Do not install larger breaker without installing the proper size wire, you can burn shit down. I think it is best too use one timer per light that way if one goes down the other will still provide some light. As far as the plants go I would go by your gut feeling and by how the plants look. Good Luck

I would stick with flowering. Keep the N up for a while though so help stretch. I have a couple of re-vegges on the go now and it's not looking good in terms of yield.

DEF stick with flowering them now! No way back. IT WILL NOT HERMY! It was still veggin when the lights screwed up. If this happened when flowering, then you'd get hermies.

OMG thank you Why in hell did it take so long for someone to tell me this.... UGH RIU is slippin. i went and tried to look at the specs on the surge pro. and it only listed some info about V. i was gonna take the amperage and try to convert it and do the math...
MAKES TOTAL sense what u are saying, about the rush causing the protector to trip. its either that or it trips automatically when the timer does for some reason.

YOU also are right about the plants and making my own judgement. My plants were EXTREMELY healthy prior to this. What it did was weaken the stems a bit, stretch a tad, and show a little yellowing on some leaves. I believe most of it was due to the temps and humidity being off, and obviously the lack of light for photosynthesis.

I left it on 12/12 and let it go off at 6 last night. The plants have made QUITE a recovery so far. I thought that they would, ive grown alot and had all sorts of crap happen. just never had a timer/light issue right when i started to flower like this. and i already was flowering earlier than i usually do, thats why i considered going back to veg. i read alot about how plants have alot of vigor still in the first couple weeks of flower, they typically will bounce back w/o causing hermies fi you know what your doing. hermies are very much gene specific too, even tho any plant can have it happen.

THANK YOU Micj id give you +REP if the Freakin system wasnt F'd up... very good info. no bull.
