1st Grow - Cali Hash Plant

Hello all - Brand new grower here, help always welcome. Constructive criticism plz.

I started a Dinafem California hash plant on my bday (Mar 15th). From seed to sprout, took about 2.5 days.
I did the paper towel method - 2 plates wrapped in tin foil (didnt have any more wrap)
I didnt have a camera, until now, so the pics you are seeing are my plant 3 weeks old. Sorry if the quality is kinda bad

Setup:
Roots organic soil, Fox Farms trio, pH kit. 2 42 watt daytime CFL, 2 42 watt soft white CFL + osc fan
Temp: 78-82*, 59% hum


Day - 26

Also i might be having some problems with my plant..
as you can notice some of the tips of the tops and sides of the leaves are turning color... By reading stuff on here it looks like its bad and I might have nute burn? also, my stems look redish. I think everything else looks ok but im not sure if thats normal? =\

Any suggestions for my plant?

looks good so far, i have smoked some hash plant, very resinous but not very high on the potent scale for me.

Oh, also had a small stint with fungus gnats... I still see 1 or two every now and then but I think i took care of the problem. Hope they didnt kill my roots =\

Dude, awesome vedder this thread was made for me because i to started on mar 15,mine only had a two week veg. Its amazing how this hash plant goes compared to the powr kush and sweet tooth. the hash plant is the smallest plant out of all yet it has the most bud on it , i cant believe how the nugs are taking off!, nice nugs all the way up the stem to the kola so dense, it didnt get very wide either. i love this two week veg method then flower especially with the hash plant it makes for the perfect space saver. im also on the fox farms trio i found i too had a tiny little tips turn white on the leafs, but honestly i think this plant can take the nutes atleast better than my sweet tooths thats forsure, any way everythings looking amazing now that i cut down to like 1/3 the strength of fox farms recommended nutes, i too had the fungas gnats i bought a 3 dollar bag at home depot of play sand and i covered my tops of soil with it, i have to say the sand method is a real bitch and i wont ever do it again it did help some but honeslty next time ill just buy some neem oil, basically when watered the sand just mixes right in with the soil and doesnt really stay on top the soil and kill the fungas gnats like its supposed to so anyway i got two boxes of the 1 dollar fly strips and i put like 8 strips all around the other lamp in my room and also i cut back on my watering, when ever the hps goes off i keep this little lamp on with the black flag sticky hangers all around it and that has almost eliminated my gnat problem atleast the adult ones they all go flying towards it i can count like 40 of them right now hangin but i havent seen anymore inthagro, You plants are lookin good man, P.S. I WILL say one thing next time i gro some hash plant im gonna make sure i put more soil in! because afterwatering a few times i realized my soil was only like half way up the 3gallonpot and this little hash plant was so thick! at first and tight i could barely water the little fucker, couldnt even get my wattering pot past a branch to the soil lol!!! , GL man and peace, Oh also i do recommend useing the hotshot no pest strip if your gnat problem everr got worse, ive heard and read things on the internet that have made this thing look deadly and its not the healthiest thing to have in the house but the way i see it you throw one of those in your grow for a day or two and it kills any bug without hurting the plant although they do say dont use this past like week 2 or 3 of flowering, thats worth it to me though hell i have one in my living room right now and im not dead yet but yeah bugs are a bithc man i too hope the gnat larva does not fuck up my roots

so far shes almost at 2.5+ months old. from soil to top its almost 5ft. i think shes looking ok, feel free to post your comments and let me know

[started its 12/12 cycle 2 weeks ago... also doing something daring: doing 12/12 from seed to sprout on another plant, thats about 2 weeks old - pics of her soon]

Here she is 80 days later.. i didnt expect her to grow this much this quick. but i guess thats a good thing 2nd week of 12/12 and its starting to get pretty frosty!
i had to add another light. home depot ran out of the 10' reflector that i like so i had to go with a 8'... the only thing, i forgot the extender for my Y socket. oh well, i'll head there tomorrow and pick one up.... fuck im high.
speaking of which its time to water!

Thought i would pop in for a quick update...

im thinking of switching to 400watt HPS... but im still not sure if im fully going to. If i do it will probably be my next grow. Im too far into this one.
I just picked up some 100 watt CFL's, both soft white and Daylight. Hoping that will help a little bit. The light is also covering more of the plant so thats good.. I'll try to get some pictures soon, But it seems to be growing nice.

Payday is coming on friday thank god!! I need to order some more CFL's online because none of my stores carry any of the ones i need anymore. I was going to head to a hydro store but the last few Ive been at I dont remember any CFL's, and their web sites dont list any bummer

Well tonight is feeding night. Not only for me, but for my girls.
Theyre still looking great.. The Cali hash plant's top is getting kinda big that its tipping the plant, so i had to add some bread ties to hold her up. So far so good.
My small Afghan (i'll have to do another grow journal for her) is also doing pretty well.. not where i want here to be after a month and a few days. But after all i am taking a risk by doing her 12-12 from seed to chop as a inexperienced grower....

And after some though -- I was thinking of doing a HPS setup but when i was looking at my grow space and closet space i probably cant pull it off.. For all my grows i want to keep my cost down, like a lot of us the economy took its punches at me which is kind of why im growing my own, but also to keep cost down. And right now I think buying a HPS lamp and reflector and shipping and everything it needs + electricity might be a stupid move for me money wise.
I know, I know... I could get better results with HPS. I know. Hate me all you want people. But until I can afford to upgrade my op I cant risk spending the cash right now. So CFL's it is until down the road!!!!

Oh yeah... Short story: I ordered applebees to go (steak) but I couldnt do their car-side pickup because it was after a certain time... Well that was cool w/ me, i'll just pick it up at the bar..
Well i get done kind of grooming my plant, (also thats when i decided i wasnt going to go HPS as she looks fine w/ the CFL's she has on her) and just doing some general maintenance on her . Well I hop in my car and drive down to applebees, walk in and head for the bar.. Its not busy or anything, which is good. And my food isnt ready.. Which is even better (i looooove hot off the grill food)! No worries, i'll watch ESPN and wait for me food.
So theres this couple, i dont know if their business partners, co workers, couple, i dont know. Im there for like..... mmmmm.. about 4 minutes waiting at the bar for my food and then i hear, really loudly, MARIJUANA.
Then the guy says "you did? or..." ... then the lady "no no, it kind of smells like pot"..
So I look at them, smell my arm pits/shirt.... Nope, not here. Continue looking at ESPN.
Another co-worker or someone joins them and she still cant get over the smell.. This time i dont do anything, but then i thought "HOLY HELL, i just got done touching my plant... i bet you......."
........ So, i act like im scratching my nose and sure enough. my hands WREAK!!!! and i mean... bad.


The steak was great! it was pipping hot. i blazed a bowl before i tore into the mash potatos and broccoli. Then took a couple snapps before I devoured that 9oz of goodness. The best part about it --- i didnt give a fuck when i was in applebees. its legal here now, and they were smelling some bombs. So they can enjoy their beers. I'll enjoy my dank thank u very much
So all in all, i really didnt think my plant would smell bad, which it doesnt in my apt.. But when you touch it, you better wash your hands because she'll leave her lotion on you like the hottie she is

Heres a little picture update. Theyre looking good so far. Im kind of moving her around and the lights around to get enough light in.
Not sure how long she has left to go though. I posted for help but still waiting to hear something. I was thinking around July 4th but I dont know. I think it might need longer.
What do you think? Hows it looking?

i seem to be the only one saying anything in this forum, which is fine - because i can track my progress. so here she is vedder6, flowering for 45 days.
gonna feed her her last meal of nutes. then its off to flush row. probably going to keep her going til the end of the month.

DAY 46 flowering! All CFL

Hope you enjoyed my day 45 update, as did I. But i have to post some of the plant, so here she is.
I have to feed her tonight, after that its just going to be water. I dont think im going to add any flavor to her (ie: mint, grape, orange), or molasses . Im just going to do the regular boring way (aka the poor mans method ). I might try to make some hash out of the leaves but honestly, and i know you HPS folks will also agree, thats probably not going to happen

my friends who are experienced growers told me that cfl dont work durin flowerg....so i picked up a 1k hps lamp...almost $300.00 for that lamp not to mention the power bill rise and heat rise too...do you use any natural light?but im gonna stick to my hps since its bought n paid for....but i like your pics tho happy smokin

nope, no natural lighting at all. i added a few CFL's a few weeks ago, so now i have two 100watt 2700 soft, two 100watt 6400 daylight, one and one 23 watt day/softwhite in a Y for extra lighting. also have mylar around that half of my closet w/ a osc fan going side to side. temps stay pretty normal w/ those lights but i did notice temps go up when i added the 100 watters. nothing that isnt manageable though.
i was thinking of moving her from indoor to outdoor and back inside but i had a fungus gnat problem in the beginning. i didnt want to invite more bugs. i am going to try natural light on one of my plants one of these grows, but i have to time it perfect -- i live in az and yesterday we had one of the hottest days since i can remember -- 118`!!!!! but if the weather is nice no doubt it can produce some good buds, and i want to give that a shot.

well your "experienced growers" are WRONG... cfls are fine for flowering .. keep doing what your doing Vedder6 dont listen to this 1k HPS clown. your hash plant looks great bro..

thats awesome !!! its always nice to meet a fellow AZ grower.... im in an APT closet as well.... your right man on saturday that 118' heat got my room up to about 89'...... its always harder in the summer but az soon as it gets cooler im going APE-SHIT on my next grow........like i said keep up the good work.
