1st Grow Ever - Noob Needs Help w/ Diagnosing

I tossed some misc seeds outside near a water spicket and go figure a plant shot up and looked so good that I just had to pot it. Since then I have engulfed myself in "gardening" and started a grow room/closet. Well, the original plant has some issues and online searching has left me somewhat confused. Hoping some of you guys/gals can offer some advice!
*If you are not SURE of what you are talking about please state so! All advice welcome but I don't want to kill my plant trying a questionable remedy.

Enviroment:
-Started in clay/rocky soil outside.
-Potted in 5gal bucket (drainage, moss, organic soil, etc) @ about 18-20" tall.
-Moved inside for security reasons.
-NOW: Outdoor closet grow room for past couple weeks
1000W MH (top of plant is not hot) + various aquarium lights @ 20on/4off while I transition to 18/6
Soil substrate in 3-gal pot w/ drainage
Temps = 71-82F
Humidity = 40-60% (fluctuates with temp)
Nutrients/Feeding: Watered with RO water (natural pH of 7.0 I think, PPM is 0) Watered only when soil is not wet and when plantar/pot is light.
*A local grower who works at a gardening store told me today that I should start feeding the plant more (FoxFarm Organics line is what we use). He has notseen the plant/s but felt the upper leaves were using the nutrients FROM the lower leaves as we were not feeding it enough via his RO waterings.

Should I be adjusting my RO water to 6.0-6.5 or lower before watering the plant?

PROBLEM: Some leaves show signs of yellowing/browning/possibly whiting spots, or at edge of leaf, then that takes over the leaf and kills it completely. It has mainly happened on the lower and older/larger/main leaves athough recently it has shown on SOME of the new growth. To me it doesn't seem to be nute burn and I think it looks similar to several type of deficiencies... can't tell which one/s.

Also, this "warping" or "shriveling" has shown up on several leaves before the yellowing started. I did a visual check for pests and havent found anything (except one small caterpillar, and a wasp which I took care of). This symptom seems to be under control now though... I stopped watering so much and cut the foliar feeding out (did that rarely but the pH of the solution was out of wack as I forgot to check the pH after adding the low dosage of nutes to the RO water).

Not sure if this is "canoeing" or normal for new growth:

And while I have your attention... lol, any idea if this is a male or female?

*Maybe I need to check with a microscope/magnifier? I can't tell via visual inspection. This plant has been moved around and the light cycle has been changed several times on it so I would not be suprised if it morphed to male... I'm surprised it has survived as long as it has but not he/she has my full attention now. Well, most of it... as you can see I have an aero setup starting in the corner and a hydro setup next to that (not pictured). After 20yrs of loving this plant species I am now hoping to devote some real time to it :) and hope you all can help!

Any advice, tips, suggestions?! Thanks in advance!!!
*Just post up if I need to provide any other info or pics. I'll be eagerly awaiting some responses!!!!
