Flowering Help

Hi all,

Question: How long would you say I have left in flowering?

This is my first grow and due to originally stunting the growth of the plants I haven't been keeping count of the age.
Its been flowering for a while now I would say 6-7 weeks but I couldn't be sure. I want to get an idea for how long is left so I can give them a good flush 2 weeks out.

Also what do you use during the flush to keep it tasting mighty fine? I was going to use some molasses mixed with water.
I have been keeping an eye on PH and it is spot on, one of the plants is just yellowing I don't know why.

Any tips would be appreciated.:leaf::leaf:

I agree a few weeks more, but best thing you can do is to get a microscope and check the trichomes

and don't worry to much about yellowing leaves, pretty common near the end (think fall)

Slipon Thanks very much I will keep that all in mind. I heard to harvest early for a lighter clear headed buzz and later then recommended for couch lock any truth to that?

So you would say I am 1-2 weeks from harvest? should I start a water flush now?

Thanks

There are two schools of thought on flushing.
Some say there is no evidence that it effects the cure or smoke and others that say it does.
I have forgotten to flush a plant before. (I have a perpetual grow with 8 plants, finshing at diferent times and ocaccasionaly one ripens sooner than I thought)
I have not noticed a difference.
Others will say they can taste the difference, I must not have a distinguished enough palate to taste the subtle nuances between flushed weed and not, it is up to you.
I still flush most the time. Mostly just watering without nutes the last week or two.

There are several posts on this topic. If you can find scientific evidence that it affects the weed, please post it for everyone, as this whole flushing thing is basicaly conjecture.

agree, I never flush, I just use clean water last week or two, maybe with a bit of molasses, a ts. per gallon of water, deluded first in a cup of boiling water, sticky stuff, and let the plant use up whats left in the soil so to speak

I would only flush if I had a hugh access of nuts left in the plant, but Im rarely over feed my plants, as I mostly have my nuts mix in with my soil mix and if I use liquid I never "go overboard" so Im more on the lean side

IMO the most impotent when it come to taste is the dry/cure, but agin I cant speak of over fertilized plant they may burn/taste bad ?

yes if you harvest early on you get a less mature smoke, with a higher ratio between THC and CBD = a more high feeling and if you wait you get a more of a stoned feeling, but it also have to do with the strain you grow, a Indica will in most cases give you a stoned feeling and a Sativa a more high feeling IME

I agree. No evidence what so ever. However, I'm a believer that it does in fact help, I've had bud that has a slight "chemical" taste to it(not that I've grown) and ive always told myself it was not flushed!

But here's my thinking. It's just water used in most flushes. So what's it going to hurt? But I do use Advanced Nutrients Final Phase. Designed to extract nutrients towards the end.

nahh a real flush is when you use 3x the amount of water that you have soil in your container, Etc, use 15 gallon of water in a 5 gallon pot and flush out the nutrients with hugh amounts of run off

I dont, I just water as normal, but cut the nutrients

Good info. Redtoro this is going to be the hard part for you. I remember how hard it was to be patient at the end of a grow at first. You have put in a lot of time and effort to get to this point. Don't harvest early your plants have a couple more weeks it looks like. Def. go buy a magnifier and get one that is strong enough to get a good view. I have a magnifier from radio shack, is 60x to 100x. With a little light. Soon as I see some amber trichs I know it's pretty much done. A lot of people will lower the feeding the last few weeks and cut back to water at the very end and no flush is required. Others who may have added lots of nutes up until the end will flush 3x water. Some don't feed last couple weeks. Very subjective and like others I never noticed much of a difference. Note that it also comes down to a proper dry and cure as well. We are talking about being more patient and waiting a week or so to dry and another 2-3 weeks cure (maybe longer) before you will have your buds at their prime. You plant looks very nice. Great job!

Thanks for your feed back every one I now know that they should be about 2 weeks away now.

I am also clear of the difference between a flush and cutting nutrients. So as I am now in the final stages I will only water with a molasis water mix and stop the nutes.

I will also get a magnifying glass and keep an eye on things.

Any tips on drying/curing can you speed the process up?

good a cheap magnifying glass will do, look for the trichomes getting more and more cloudy I like to harvest when I see the first amber, since thats also when I have about 80% cloudy and 20% clear (but also depend on strain)

about cutting the nuts, maybe a bit to early IMO you got atleast them two week`s left, I see no brown/oranges pistons yet, I would maybe give it a last good strong dose of some high P/K nuts and then switch to molasses, but thats just me

about dry/curing, I like to manicure em when I cut em (will dry faster) and I just hang em on a old dryer rack

DSC01026.jpgDSC01027.jpgDSC01031.jpgDSC01032.jpgDSC01044.jpg

then I place em in a spare Bed room I keep dark, I have a normal fan in there making a bit of air circulation in there (not pointed at the plants)
and I try to keep it around 70-75F as to hot make em dry to fast and get crispy, and to cold make em dry to slow and might promote mold/PM

I like em when they are ready for the jars in 4-5 day`s less then 3 and they get crispy more then 6-7 days and its to slow IMO (also depend on how big the Bud´s are)

once they feel dry on the outside I jar em and start the curing process (don't fill the jars more then 3/4)

DSC01058.jpg

I often do it a bit early, so often I have to pull em out agin once the moister have been drawn out from the center, and let em dry half a day more, maybe in a paper back/cardboard box, or I just let the jar`s open for a day, depend on how moist they are

after that I open them a few times a day for 10-20 minutes and turn em around the first week or so and once a day after that until I find em cured

if they get to dry/crispy and burns to fast and taste bad, you can "cure" that easily with a pile of potato or orange`s in the jar for a few hours, a few fresh leaves can also do the job anything moist the Bud`s can draw from

some do, I did try it (to harvest the top bud`s and leave the rest of the plant in there for another week or so) not much different, and not wort it IMO, specially if you have nice Veg plants ready to go in just waiting for some space
