hey guys ive been wanting to start a grow journal, been putting it off but think that it will really help keeping track of time maybe get some feedback etc.
so here goes... started some shwag bag seeds just to get back into the swing of things... my days kind of run together with all that smoke so ill "guesstimate" that i started germinating on 4-19
the seeds cracked at different time and as they did they were placed in 24 and 32 oz cups( styrofoam with holes poked) also about half of the sprouts were placed in jiffy seed starters. and placed in cups when roots hit bottom
so i ended up with 9 seedlings i believe.. around 4-25 i germinated 4 more seeds from some purple kill- (here its either mexican brickweed or "dro") from a grower i do business with (who sometimes has few seeds- either by accident,laziness,herm - i am not sure) and also got more "dro"(QP) that had more seeds than usual-sticky but smelled shwagy
anyways germed 4 purps one didnt make it through the soil.
also recieved my dieselryder quicksilver and the church from attitude... germed one fem dieselryder
the soil mixture i used in the cups was ff happy frog and about half jiffy seed starter soil-not real happy with the latter because the coco seems to get hard clump together too much
so i kinda got back into the hobby on a whim after just researching for weeks and weeks therefore i didnt have a cab ready or anything...so i used my bathroom sink/vanity thing.
my reasons for using this area is because the wall behind the sink is knocked out about halfway( from when some ghetto plumbers put in new pipes)andi get some nice intake/exhaust from the crawlspace under the house. also stealth is a issue as im back to renting now
as for lighting...my friend argued that you must have HPS for flowering and im kinda just tryin to show him you can veg and flower with just CFls
sooo i got 6 clamp lamps with 4 ysplitters so ten CFLs right now i have 1 42 watt 2700
1 23 watt 2700 and 6 to 8 23 watt 6500 (depending on heat-found 6500 gets more hot than 2700)
lets see so now i have
1 diesel ryder
3 "purps" which 2 of seedlings are already showing purple
8 bagseed
also germed one fem QS and one from the sticky organic
and to bring you all AND MYSELF up to date the bagseeds are getting big(especially one) they are about 10-20 days old
i have given them some superthrive after about a week and a light feeding of ff grow
i know i know...and i nute burned 2 or 3 of the lil babies
i should have waited til they were all ready for ferts but the ones who didnt burn look great
2 days ago i fimmed all plants with 4/5 sets of leaves (all but 2 of the purple ones)
i was amazed how the new leaf growth was instant, day after i did it new shoots at all the nodes!
also tried some sort of lst kinda...i just pulled some big leafs down to the brim of the cup to allow more light penetration
oh and while i feel 20/4 even maybe 18/6 would be much better i have had them on 24/0 because timer wouldnt fit in the socket i am using..
i did give them about 2 nights of 8hr darkness while i slept(is this inconsistent light bad? or am i ok as long as its in veg?
my diesel ryder seed was really small and had to help the seed off once i saw it trying to sprout...it seemed really weak and runty so i helped the seed casing off and 2 days later it has shown its TINY first leaves and cotyledons spread out but im worried that its stunted seems shrimpy.. maybe just bc its AF and next to some older plants>?
im trying to include everything in case anyone wants to ask questions
i have a closet set up for when i switch to flower... actually the top of a closet (vaulted cielings) and it has an opening to an attic which should work out nicely
more lights planned during flowering.. dont know what i left out sorry if i bored you and sorry im such a noob hit me up with any ideas suggestions questions critiques...ur all welcome to comment -do whatever u want in my journal bout to go snap some pics because i know noone will give 2craps without pics haha
