had a journal going but didnt like how you are limited compared to making threads. sorry to those who commented previously on the old post as i cant bring your comments over, but ocd gets the best of me sometimes... so here we go.
so this is my first grow. im going 12/12 from seed. they are 5 random bag seed started 3-19-14. my equipment is : grow bright 6" fan 4xx cfm, 400w htg supply hps bulb(have mh also), fox farm ocean fresh soil and nutes.i dont know why but i wanna play with my seedlings so bad but i know i shouldnt if i want something somewhat successful. i originally had the light wayyyy too close and i thought 1 gave up on me but i gave her (hopefully) some water and backed the light off and i think they are gonna pull through. was a scary sight coming home and seeing it laying down. definitely got some more growth out of them so im pretty sure thats a good sign. still showing some signs of heat stress as they are droopy but the growth tells me it should be ok. i didnt think that light could create so much heat and glad i didnt splurge on a 1000w. maybe when i have a spare bedroom to use i will. haha. feel free to post comments or suggestions. i love constructive criticism. blaze on
1st week...
keeping myself from overly loving them is hard but i know its much needed in order to get results.guess cause its so new to me. i got compliments from the wifey about how good the grow box is. she thought it was gonna be ghetto looking. i gotta admit, im happy it turned out well also. i finished it up. i bought a tool replacement cord and wired up a single outlet to the inside so all wires are inside the box. only 1 wire comes out of the box now which is nice and clean and sealed. installed the other ducting also. only thing is the light penetrates the duct work and shines slightly on the wall behind it.
3rd week
well its been awhile since i could get on here to do this. so i started with 5 seeds and ended up with 2 females. killed 3 males. bastards. i repotted them into 3 gal pots too. they are looking good. they dont mind to get watered. i can easily water them every other day if not everyday. when i check them they are dry almost everyday. running the 400w hps gets it hot in there even with the fan. 88f max so far. i dont do a full on soak either. i go slow just till i see a little come out the bottom. when i do a water where alot comes out the bottom they get droopy and sad looking so that was a sign of too much to me. i experimented with a little bit of nutes over 2 weeks period as i was unsure what to use as im going 12/12 from seed and not sure of a feed schedule as the chart i got from fox farm is for the "standard" route of growing, but the females reacted very well. males not so much. males ended up with a little nute burn on leaves with same strength feed as females, ladies havent shown a sign yet. only reason i tried is cause the chart says something about follow this schedule with our soil so i figured f-it lets see what happens. i actually tried all 3 different nutes too that i have and they liked the grow big the most. the leaves were all erect!! never saw them that way. they do like the water out of my water cooler over tap, cooler water is ph at about 6.5 out the bottle, tap is 8+ easy, but even when its phd between 6-7...hard to tell with liquid drop kit. my grow box is 100% done. got the other intake duct work hooked up. i installed a socket in the box so all the wiring is inside the box. i only have 1 wire coming out of the box which i drilled a hole for and sealed up. i can smell a little something after being out of the apartment for some time but nothing outrageous. i hope when the time comes the carbon filter works if need be. i find myself constantly opening the box to see whats going on. even though not much has changed its still cool to me to see whats up. the one female though, the taller one, smells skunky to me. much stronger than the other. the other is kinda sweet and piney. even though its bag seed its more than likely from some "medical grade" i was getting from cali a while back so im soooo looking forward to this.

i concluded that im gonna start out or just do nutes once a week. i just watered today with 2tsp of tiger bloom per gal of water. had to ph up as its acidic as fuck. ph'd to about 6-7. run off came out bout the same. color wise though it came out a little darker but still not higher than the number figures i stated. i left the light on friday night at lights on till saturday lights on time..24 hrs. well that sucked. leaves were giving the canoeing look. i gave some reg water and left lights off for 24 hrs. today they were much happier and bigger. the taller one just grows. the growth has slowed compared to when i first planted them but they are still growing. nothing that looks like buds yet but each node on the higher side of them has 2 white hairs. some of the lower branches are popping out their first. i think im going to have an issue with height as im already as high as the light can go. im actually thinking about switching to "vertically" hanging my bulb. i need a vertical bulb socket though as the one i have, the wire comes out the side not the center. i also want to consider installing some type of scrog net too but i dont know if its too late for that as the stalks of these ladies are quite thick already. guess we will see hoe it unfolds as time passes. ive also been thinking about doing a swirl lst to it. i dont have much around the house to work with though and funds are tight.
