1st time grow closet Ideas and advice

I am a first time grower and im going to convert my walk in closet into a grow room
For lighting i plan on buying a 150 watt CFL (11,000 lumens)

I plan on growing aurora indica because from what i understand it is a fast relatively easy plant to grow

For soil I am buying jungle growth (water wise) and mg bonemeal and bloodmeal
Im going to try to grow 5 plants and my main concern is the smell of the plants I was looking at ona gel but I dont understand how i would use it would i just take the container and leave it open in the closet? There is also a lot of things im not thinking of so if anyone has any advice comments or other ideas they would be greatly appreciated

Good thing you asked early. I hope you haven't bought those lights yet because they aren't nearly enough or worth using for a grow of that size. 11,000 lumens is enough light for 1.5 square feet of floor space. LED's are good for zero feet of floor space. Practically worthless.



You need a 400w hps in there and a cooltube like this if you want to grow 5 plants and really actually get a decent amount of weed out of it:

If you can't afford those, you can DIY one. Google diy cooltube.
You can also get 400w hps ballasts used (warehouse lights) for under $50 shipped if you do the work of wiring it yourself. (with our help)

is it worth it to buy the led lights?

nice on my next grow im planning to by ak-47 i herd they r easy to grow and fast maybe il get 5 of these also do u know if this indica plant smells a lot? cant really give u good advice >_<

It will smell a lot in flower, not really at all during veg.

And AK47 is mostly sativa, it's a tall thin growing plant like any other sativa but puts out major bud. (if you have the lights for it)

No the LED's are not worth buying for any purpose whatsoever. One of these days they will be great, but not yet.

What should I do when they are flowering have you heard anything about/used ona gel or can i get away with like 4 febreeze airfreshner things

I've heard good things about ona but never tried it. 5 plants I'm sure you could just use one dryer sheet on a fan if the ona jel wasn't enough on it's own. I don't know how the ona works. The dryer sheets work well and last a while for ea one and you just change it when it's not enough any longer.

You could also google DIY carbon filter.

There's plenty of time before you'll be flowering anyway, so you have time to diy a real carbon filter or save for a retail one. Small ones like you would need are not all that expensive. You need a blower fan for them too though.

Be careful with ona gel. If you are going to use it I would use it outside of the grow room. (Who cares what the grow room smells like it is outside that counts right) I have heard that plants flowered in the presence of ona gel will smell and taste like ona. It is a very effective odor eliminator but it needs to be used outside the room. Carbon filters are very effective and can be made at a fairly low cost.

if i do a carbon filter where do i have the exhaust going because i dont want to drill a hole in my door
OR can I just have the carbon filter in the middle of the closet and have the inline fan running 24 hours a day or could i run it less and have it blow the filtered air right back in the room

Exhaust should be at the top since heat rises. Ive seen people stick a fan at the top w/ that filter ur talking about and get no smell. You can leave the fan running 24/7 (the one hitting the plants), hellps keeps bugs away by blowin them off.

ive got a mix of led an cfl an they're work fine they're worth buyin especially if you dont want high lecy bills my opinion tho

*EDIT* also autos are easy to grow if your lookin for somethin that aint to hard to grow you can leave the lights on whatever 4 the entire grow simple

cfls work great=)!! just make sure during flowering you get the cfls that produce the red spectra! good luck=)!
