1st time Pc Grow

HI. My names Aaron but you can call me Neph. I've been lurking on the forums for a bit reading up on stuff.

I've decided I want to try and grow. Nothing serious just some bag seeds, but I have to be super stealthy. Since I'm not in it for a mass yield as much as the journey I've decided to try a Pc Grow Box.

So far I've just took apart my old Pc tower. Any suggestions on what to buy as far as lighting and such is welcome. I know absolutely nothing about about what I'm doing so any help would be appreciated.

The dimensions of the tower are:
Hieght: 14in
Depth: 15in
Width: 7in

so what exactly do you do for a pc grow..you cant really flower in there not enough room..i guess unless you putt them 12/12 from sprout

for lights you have no choice but to use CFL's, i ddont know how many you can use but im guessing not many cuz of heat. You really need to clean up the tower make sure it is as clean as possible before you start growing and only buy flowering cfls (2700k) and start flowering from seed cause you dont have much room to grow. You could line the inside with mylar so no light will get out from all the holes and would be more reflective so better for your plants since you cant have much lights

most people who do pc grow boxes use a SCROG technique, but even so, your only going to be able to grow one MAYBE 2 plants in there, and your yield is going to be small even with 2 plants because your restricting their height and grow space so much. It's good for personal smoke, but you could get 30 grams per yield... perhaps

and you need damn good ventilation as you only really have room for 1 or 2 lights, so they are gonna need to be high wattage cfls, could get a little warm inside.

and 30 grams is a lot for that size, so don't quote me =P

Thanks For all the replies. I had planned on doing them 12/12 from sprouts. If I get a Y splitter I'm thinking I can at least get two cfls in there. I would ScrOG but I wont know if they will be male or female so I wont bother doing it on the first grow. This isn't about as max a yeild as I can get, more of a growing expeirment on a small scale.

I would just use one 42 watt cfl, plenty of light. you don't have to scrog, but you should read up on LST, because that's the only way you'll grow a plant with out it out growing your vertical space.

also - don't start on 12/12 from sprout. give it a week or two of 20/4 to let it mature faster. it wont flower until it's ready, so don't bother putting it on 12/12 right off. remember though your plants will double or triple in size by the time they are finished. LSTing should help this problem though.

I looked up lst and it just seems like training it to grow horizontal. Am I right?

I'm concerned on how to hook up power to my lights. I would like to try and use the old plug for the computer but I'm not sure how to wire it. I have the fan hooked up with it's own plug though. Any help on this would be appreciated.

you can either get a power strip and wire it to a female 3 prong connector that the original computer cord would attach to, and place it inside the case with everything plugged into that. or say fuck it and have all the wires/cords coming out of a small hole all taped up to look like one wire and plug them all into a power strip outside the pc.

12/12 from sprout??? those plants aren't mature yet.....if anything, you shoud veg those plants for 3-4 weeks until it shows you the sex. then take clones and flower the clones (once rooted). Since the clones are from a mature mamma you will have now problems flowering...but going 12/12 from sprout will get you nowhere...

although I must admit I've never tried....so if you do decide to go that route, please keep us informed of your progress as I will be curious to see your outcome.

No problem! You most certainly can. I have yet to try it, i just have so many things going on in my cab right now. Plants at different light sched's & ages. If you can do it right you can get a decent yield, otherwise it looks like you can only get a fat sacks worth. Herb is herb, and its always better if you grow it :D

Looks good. What i did is mounted a power strip on the top and plugged in 3 CFLs and had room to fit the plug for my fan i wired up. Just gotta buy an adapter or find a longer powerstrip.

I need more money to set it up a little better. Right now I only had about $20 to get it set up. I think I need to get a smaller bulb. Right now I have a 30 watt cfl 2700k. It's kinda big in size though. So with my plug and everything I can't close the side. If I angle it it closes just fine, hence why it looks droopy. This is just a temporary solution though.

I'm thinking now Maybe a week of 24/0 veg and then go to 12/12 flowering. Maybe I'll stick to 12/12 from sprout though. My concern for this grow is stealth and speed not yeild. So what do you guys think will be faster? The 12/12 from sprout for the 24/0 1 wk veg then rest 12/12 flower?

I put about 6 seeds in a paper towel just waiting to see if the germinate. I figure I'll plant two an hope at least one id fem.
