Hottest year EVER? Really. So let me guess, you have miraculously unearthed some data from an ancient burial site and have deciphered the writings. Truly amazing.

I was reading something somewhere... NO CITATION!!! And the record they have for hot and cold record temperatures only goes back 70 years or so.

How do we know if it was hotter and/or cooler before then?

We can tell from how far the glaciers pushed into North America....

But no really american Midwest is totally a large enough chunk of something to be valid about something or other

The earth isn't 2/3 ocean, the SURFACE of the earth is 2/3 ocean.

Also I am the only person on this board who is actively doing something about my carbon footprint, I am on board with the global damage we do as humans to our environment way more than 99% of anyone here, I make my living off the land.

You're forgetting their interest level drops to zero once it requires anything beyond their manufactured outrage. Maybe hang out at a protest or make a showing at an Earth Day festival. They are nothing but toothless, nutless, rabid dogs barking in whatever direction their masters point.

They are an empty, pathetic lot.

My job is as close to carbon neutral as can be

My house is lit by led lights and my appliances are all energy efficient, and its well insulated

However that's not enough, the main drive has to be large scale, that is why I'm a strong supporter of nuclear power as the answer to AGW. We have technology to build nuclear power plants that can "burn" the long lived nuclear "waste" leaving only short lived waste (few hundred years)

But my position is one that's stuck between the feckless climate deniers and the feckless green "nimbys"

Hopefully soon both sides will get their heads out of their arises and start fixing problem
