first attempt was horrible, went no were. here's my 2nd attempt

right now i'm just using a 23 watt fluorescent soft light bulb. i know i should be using daylight, but grabbed this instead without reading it. so far so good though. been only feeding it water, no nutrients. when should the nutrients be added?

was going to add them after the 2nd week

I don't add nutes until the 3rd week, but it depends on your soil really. I use Fox Farm Ocean forest, which is good for most of veg.

awesome, thanks for the advice. i am using miracle grow/moisture control that was picked up from HD.

any other advice would be greatly appreciated. i'm hoping the other 2 that i planted yesterday will start to pop out by tomorrow. very excited about this

Use caution feeding supplemental nutrients with the MG soil. It contains little nutrient bombs that supposedly lasts for 3 months. You'll end up burning the plant if you're not careful.

if the MG soil has time release nutrients. .... it will say on the bag .. then i wouldnt add any nutrients until the second week of flowering

If it's miracle grow/moisture control then you have the time released nutes already in it. Keep an eye on the leaves when veg is complete. You'll probably notice some yellowing...which would indicate the nute bombs are almost used up.

hhmm what can i do after the yellowing? do i flush the soil? i was trying to look for some sunshine mix at the HD or other ones but they didn't have much that sounded good. They did have african gold (or i think it was called african mix) and had thoughts of getting that one.

also........i bought some soil that's rich in nitrogen and another that's rich in phosphorous. after the nutes are used up in this one and time to transfer the plants over to a bigger pots...........can i use the nitrogen one?

thanks! other 2 cups haven't yet popped out to the soil, hoping they will tomorrow or in a couple of days. i right now have them in a long box, were i cut the top part off for the light to get in (and cut a side door to check up on the plants so i won't have to remove the light from them to see), and plan on putting aluminum foils on the walls of the box

Sometimes they don't pop up out of the soil for like 5 days - week.. Aluminum foil isn't very good. Try to get some mylar or panda film, the aluminum foil could create hot spots and burn your plants.

oh ok, glad you let me know. i was going to do that later today.

yeah being that they are in a box right now, i was thinking of cutting another hole for air cause i didn't want it to start getting hot inside.

the one there i have posted pics up is looking nicely. the first set of blades have gotten just a little bigger

i have three 23 watt cfl's and they're working quite well but i havn't changed the little alluminum i still have in there...thats gotta go lol

oh i'm not using cfl's

but i do/want to keep the plant at a short height. read these kinds can grow about 4 to 5 feet.

i read up someone saying "topping" but don't know what that is. was going to, once the plant reaches to the light, not raise the light to just keep the height low

Oh well the 2-3in rule applies to any type of fluorescent.. It says you're using a fluorescent in the 1st post anyway. 1ft away is for HID lighting such as HPS/MH.
