2nd Grow, Cheese & Brainstorm

hey. i'll have pics later today, my mum buggered off on holiday with my good camera but she'll be back soon!

i got the cheese feminised from greenhouse and fem brainstorm from dutch passion.

the cheese is 2 weeks today and is 6 days older than the brainstorm.

the cheese is growing way different to my previous plants... it's only about 2-3 inches tall but i can see development on the 6th node already, healthy side shoots from 3 of the nodes and it skipped the 3 finger leaf stage straight into 5 leaf. i think i'll be cloning this plant.

i'm using levington organic blend soil with perlite and seer basalt rock dust at the moment. i'm running low on soil and transplant is approaching so i'm going to order a couple of 11 litre pots and some bio-bizz all-mix today. do you think i'll be ok changing the soil when transplanting?

the grow space isn't huge... 5'x3'x3' and right now the weed is sharing it's home with 2 older chilli plants. i don't quite know what to do with them once i transplant my babies.

i'm using 2 200w Plug 'n' Grow (eco-lites), 1 blue, 1 red and 4 25w blue cfls 20/4. i'll probably buy another red eco lite nearer flowering time to replace the blue. i have been experiencing a bit of heat trouble, i have a short term solution right now with 2 hand-held fans pulling the hot air out. that keeps temps in the low 80s with the door closed. i'm looking at extractor fans but i'm short on cash at the moment.

anyway, i hope thats enough info for now... i'll get pics up asap.bongsmilie

so i've finally got some pictures. i transplanted them yesterday and the cheese got it's first dose of baby bio. i think it took the feed rather well. the last pic is the brainstorm, it seems to be side shooting from the cotyledons... i've never seen that before.

anyway i'll get more up soon:weed:

yo. i'm going to put a couple of pics up in a bit... before and after shots of my brainstorm (the younger plant) getting her head topped off! i will be cutting at the 5th node. reason being, the cheese is not stretching at all and i want to keep them close to the same hight. wish me luck! :weed:

heres a couple of pics of my chillies, on the left is from a bag of caribbean mixed and the right is an F1 hybrid jalapeño :-P

and a pic of an eco-lite next to a regular household cfl and a packet of fags lol

fuck i missed! haha so looks likey i fimmed instead, at the last minute i decided i would miss the whole top of my plant too much so i just whacked off about 80% of the newest growth.

here's a few pics, for some reason i was struggling to get decent focus on the after shots:wall:

Nice pictures dude. Plants look very healthy. Keep up the good work~!+rep. Doctor Chronic
eeey thanks, good luck with your grow:weed:

here's an update, cheese is 3 weeks today, brainstorm is 2 weeks and 1 day, 3 days after fimming. i played around with the camera settings for ages but still havn't mastered macro shots so sorry for the rubbish quality fim update pics.

my cheese finally stretched a bit this week... under the top canopy was getting really crowded, some of the growth was getting squashed a bit but it has worked it's self out. brainstorm continues to shadow over the cheese even after fimming, maybe the cheese will catch up soon.

first and second pics; cheese left brainstorm right

rest; brainstorm's top development. you can see one side of the new growth is developing a bit faster than the rest. again, sorry about the bad quality pics.

hey thanks for those kind words! hope your grow goes well man!

yeah the brainstorm looks promising... i was a bit iffy at first, it stretched a lot at the beginning but it's starting to thicken out and look a bit better now. also, it was not my first choice... i wanted blue moonshine or red diesel but i decided to let my girlfriend pick one since i had chosen the cheese seed a couple of months back. sounds like good genetics though, friends of mine have had successful dutch passion grows and NL#5 x Haze sounds good to me!

on to the lights... all of the lights i have: 1 200w 6500k cfl, 1 200w 2700k cfl, about 6 various wattage from 11w to 30w 6500k cfls. now not all of these are in use... heat was way to much of an issue with both 200w lights, (next buy is 100% extraction fan, some ducting and heatproof tape etc.) so in my grow space right now is 1 200w blue envirolite, 2 30w blue cfl's and 1 26w blue cfl.

within the next couple of weeks my grow space will be getting a make-over! extraction fan will be getting set up first allowing for more lights, flowering time should be shortly after so i'm looking at getting another red envirolite to replace the blue one. then i'll either make my own carbon filter using one of the excellent diy guides on this site or if i have any cash left, i might buy an odorsok.

so about the plants, i upped their feed to 2mls of baby bio and 4-5mls of tomorite yesterday. there is no sign of burn and they shot up over night so im happy. i'll be using bio bizz bloom for flowering. the brainstorms top development is looking good, i may post another couple of pics later on today to show.

well thats enough for now!!! :o

well here's a couple more pics of brainstorm's top. i had never seen regular updates of a topped/fimmed plant before i went ahead and did it... i wasn't sure what the new growth would look like etc. it's quite scary doing it for the first time too! lol so i'm going to keep updates regular for now for others who aren't that experienced.

still struggling to get nice, in focus close ups:cry:

haha aye i think it's in the works... she's wonderful:D

how soon do you guys think i should start using bloom nutes? and should i maybe flush them before i switch? they can handle quite a large dose now so there's probably allot still kicking about in there.
