2nd grow..this time i have females

Hi All,

To start with i want to thank all of the RIU members who have posted so much good info. I would have been lost without ya.

I started my 1st grow just before going away on vacation, i had someone watching the seedlings but by the time i got back, i had one drowned MJ plant left alive. Eventually it grew into a he...so i harvested a little pollen (it autoflowered) then chopped him down. Needless to say NO BUDS.....doh

SO i'm into my second week of flowering on my second grow. THis time I did things a little different.

a. Bought some Blueberry skunk seeds from MR. Blue. They rock, i germed 5/5 in 2 days. Nice bushy indica strain. claims 7/week flower.

b. I went DWC in a rubbermaid instead of dirt. So far this has rocked too once the roots hit the water...pow I'm using GH Flora Nova and GH Micro similar to lucas formula...but what i had. There was some confusion at first.

Ok so I also germed a couple bagseed too...all together i have 8 plants. 4 BlueberrySkunk in one rubbermaid and 3 bagseed in the other + 1 Blue in dirt (was fallback plan(t))

Into second week of flowering and THEY ARE ALL FEMALE...i'm so happy.......it took me awhile to believe it...but it's true.

I'm using 4 2 tube t8 fixtures, in a 1.5' by 4' area. so far so good. I swapped the tubes for veg and flowering.

ANYHOW....I'll post some pics tonight...gotta go to class.

I just had to tell someone...THE GIRLS ARE HERE!!!!!

yeaaa cant wait to see what the plants turn out like

congrats on the all girl grow.. soo nice when things pan out that way.. i would only suggest one thing to you... try to keep the plants a lil on the shorter side as with the t5s, the light penetration is not as good as it would be with say an hps or mh... good, but not great... so when the plants start to get tall, the light may not reach all the way down to the bottom of the plants to support lower growth... or maybe look into lst of scrog or supercropping to help out with light penetration with the t5's..
nice job on the grow though... did you manage to stay friends with your murderous friend? lol... that is rough mate..

I definatly let them get way too big, i'm planning on doing a SOG style DWC with 8 plants per rubbermaid with 0 veg time but needed to get a female to clone off of to start. I expected to be pulling a few males as well, but i can live with that problem.

I'm still working on my grow room and my original plan would not have worked....but it has evolved.

I put up a wall in the basment and made it look like a foundation wall. ie covered it in insulation and plastic. If you move one piece of the insulation though you will find a secret door. It's kinda wierd but if you didn't know there was a space there you wouldn't look at the wall twice. I'm still tweeking the stealth a bit..i pile a table and some stuff to help hide it.
I'll post a pic later...it's hard to explain.

So my space is only 3'x5' but it's 10' high, but the ceiling is the floor upstairs. I have this awsome shelf in there it just fits ( I built it in) it's shelves are 4' x 1.5' and totally adjustable. I could even take the top shelf off to use the full hieght of the room....but then there would be no lights...
I wanted to use two shelves and kinda block the light to make a veg and flower area but i should have done it before building it into a closet...now i'm pretty much screwed. I hang the lights from the bottom of one shelf to shine down..

OK...this is getting too long...i'm going for a smoke and see if i can seek in and take some shots...

Oh and the person watching the seedlings didn't know what they were...i put basil and oragano in little pots and started them at the same time and told them it was an herb garden....slapped it right in the kitchen and just told her to leave the light on all the time....She killed all but the one lad, but the basil did awsome.

Well, I guess it';s true that if you stare at balls long enough you can think they are buds.....

Killed 4 males last night....guess i sobered up....

4/5 Blueberry skunk are male....doh..

1/3 of the bagseed are male

the only plus is that the one BlueberryS in soil is the female i was hopping it would be so it can be a mom...

Will post some pics of the sad state tonight.

After i pulled the males the girls fell over...which is ok because they were stretching so much i was running out of space...

Oh well....live and learn...

looks good also , i would even paint it white or smth .. put maybe whitewash to make it look like a wall .

oh man im sorry to here that .. males suck !
well luckily u got a few females , so now they'll proilly grow alot bigger bcuz they got more space .

btw from the pics it looks awesome , bushy as hell .

Been using GH floranova bloom, + GH mirco + floralicous grow....for most of the grow..

Using GH floranova bloom + koolbloom in flower now...

I've had the ppm up to 2700 at some points and they seemed to love it...not sure if that is normal, i just kept pushing it to see how much they could take.....they took it all..

Gotta work on keeping the heioght and stretch down...

So since the girls fell over when i pulled the males i have lots of vertical space now...1 plus i guess.

they seem to be stretching a bit , but now u cant do anything about it , as i see they already reached the florous.
btw try to look for a wooden board or something , to tie (very gently) ur girls to them so they wont fall over.

how long have they been into flowering now ?

Been about 3 week in flowering, they stretched like mad...about 1-2 in a day since 12/12. I just keep moving the lights up. I'm glad in a way that they leaned over like they did, i was running out of space to move up.

I waited too long to flower them...but they seemed so small at the time..will not make that mistake again.

This might work out better anyway, added some extra lights and the lower part of the plant is now exposed.

Update time...finally.

OK so Bad news first...the last two bagseed bitches turned freaky dicky on me and sprouted balls...doh!

There is definatly pollen in the flowering chamber but since i only have about 7 seeds left i'm not too concerned. I also wasn't about to kill the last 2/3 plants to save the buds on the smallest. Even though the smallest is the last surviving blueberry skunk...and looking very juicy too..much frostyier (i know f'off).

The Clones situation has changed as well....didn't want to clone no hermies so..kill kill kill....
I had two that i know are from the BBS they rooted nicely in the bubble cloner...had to cut them out of the lid...
I planted them in small pots and will be keeping them as moms, the are still in the dark box....i should paint it white inside.

It's starting to look like i might get a bit of a yield after all...some of the buds are actually looking pretty nice..they are fairly dense from what i could tell....only touched one too see..course seeds will be a drag...but as i said i can live with that.

As far as odor control.....it was out of control with all the males in there......i bought some Ona linen scent..after a day it smelled normal in the house again...
WIth the males gone the is no smell at all...i have it right in the flowering room and both adjoing rooms. I'm a little concerned it will affect the taste but bad taste vs getting busted is not a hard choice...

Hi all,

Quick update, looks like the stretching has stopped. No noticable upward growth in the las 2 days. I figure that i'm about 4 and a bit weeks into flowering, not sure what the whole seed thing is going to do to the timeline but we shall see...the BBS is supposed to be 7 week flower...but it's in soil so i figure they will be pretty even.



If i keep the seed from the self polinated hermi plants does that make them feminized????
