2nd Grow - trying Hydro

Hey Folks

Its been a few years since I did a grow, last time me and my old man had about 11 Plants, grew some Shiva Shanti 2 from sensi seed bank.

We got a nice bit of weed from that and was done all natural just using light from the sun, no special lights, no nutrients 100% natural... took a while mind and because they were growing indoors using the light from the windows they got to bout 5ft tall so wasnt very practical, alot of plant was wasted with stalk.

Im now attempting a 2nd Grow, this time im using a Hydro set up and looking to grow 2 / 3 plants, nothing fancy just a practice run.

Ive bought a starter kit and have spent about 220 quid in bits n bobs to sort out my area.

Ive attached a picture of my grow area.

Im using my Atic, as ive got fairly easy access and not really got any where else to do it, plus thought its my house dont want my house mate knowing about this (atic access is from my room) I know im going to need to sort the smell out come flowering (shame as i used to love walking home to the smell when i lived with my old man)

I need to finish the ventilation but that shouldnt be to difficault.

I get a natural through breeze through my loft as there are holes in the corners its not amazingly hot up there, and ive only bought a 250 HPS light.

Ive got a small tray big enough for 2-4 plants, but like i said im going to start with 3 plants see how that goes.

So on with my questions

## Ive got 2 little fans from maplins, one is going to be used to draw fresh air from my bedroom the other is going to be used to draw air out of the grow area and vent it else where. Silent fans so noise wont be an issue with these, how ever how am i suppsed to wire these up? as they are only 4inch computer fans the wires are to thing to wire up to a plug? do you folks wire to plugs or something else?

## Temperature, I know 250w bulb isnt going to draw much electric, hell my computer draws alot more, so not worried bout excessive electric, how ever heat i am worried about after a few scare stories regarding those LEO with thermo cameras, i need to get a thermeter up there to see what the average temp is, i was going to run the lights on during the day anyhow when the room would be hotter naturally and have them off most the night so its cooler. Are those heat camera really something to worry about?

## Im looking to grow my plants to about 1m tall tops, as this will keep them enclosed in my area (if you look at my photo if the plants are a meter tall then my light will just be highenough that no light escapes outside the reflective area).
I do have a front sheet for the grow area, i have just left it off to make access and photos easier.

## Im going to be using 3 cuttings from a friends plant for this, as the seeds ive got didnt germinate they were a couple of years old though Ive got Rockwool but ive got a couple of questions regarding this.
I know u need to leave it soaking for 24 hours in water, ive got some root nurtient as well so i shall mix that with the water solution. then put my cutting into that let it root, then add it to the larger rockwool which has also been soaking in a simular solution, once the roots are to the edge of the larger one then add to the hydro box ?

## Would 4-5 weeks grow and then 4-5 weeks flowering time be good enough for 1m high plants, im not expecting loads of weed, but would be nice to get an ounce or 2 from each plant.

## Finally the smell
Ive seen these carbon filters people talk about, seen some on ebay for like 40quid, would fitting one to the end of my exhaust vent be good enough? what about room fragrance machines would they be any good for helping hide or nutrilising the smell.

#1. You can use 2 cell phone chargers to hook the fans up too , i did it and it works fine but i hooked 2 fans up to 1 cell phone charger , it would be better if you had 2 tho.

#2. Run the lights at night so that the cool air will help keep the temp down with your fans going , more heat in the day , more cold at night , meaning less heat from lights at night.

#6. Smell is always a problem , im not too sure how to get rid of it , but im sure if you just lit some insence or somthing it will help dim the smell.


If none of this helped you just look in the FAQ's and there should be a manual or w.e. on how to grow , and how to grow hydro and all the things you need.

Oh and if that is insolation around your grow area , if i was you id probably put down a bigger floor for your grow area or make sure there is no wires or electricity on the insolation cuz if theres even a little spark , there goes your attic in flames.

Yeah there is more hardwood on the floor, all the electrics will be on a woodfloor.
plus ive got a ground sheet for the area around the wood.
