2x400w hps plant-bulb distance

Hey guy's, so i see everywhere that i should have my 400w hps around 48cm away from plants..
But what if i have two 400w hps?...i mean the distance shouldn't be 48 cm again right?

Put your hand palm down on the top of the tallest plant. If your hand is uncomfortable from the heat after 10 seconds, raise the light.

There are no set in stone numbers for height from the plants.
 
Even though their footprints will overlap a little you should still keep the same height, unless you are somehow putting them right next to each other which I wouldn't do.
