3 important questions before i accidentlly ruin my grow.

Hello everyone. I just had a couple questions to ask before i end up ruining my damn grow by accident. Ive read lots of books cover to cover. Ive spent countless hours searching the web. Ive done a couple grows myself. But my system has changed so some new issues have popped up.

1. First and most importantly. Would it be better to veg in 96w cfl or 400w hps. I just purchased the hps bulb. I usually veg cfl but the wattage is such a difference.

2. Am i able to change the times the lighting is on and off once ive started. Like right now my lights are on 20 and off 4. Turning off at 8pm and coming back on at 12am. However my timer seems to get behind for some reason. Like it will be an hour late then 2 hours late through out the week. Not sure why that is. Anyway i was going to just start doing it manually. Will it hurt the plants if i turn the lights off at 10pm and back on at 2am instead of the time i started with?

3. And lastly how much superthrive should i be mixing to a gallon of water? I water them every other day or when the top of the soil is dryed out. Im using botanicare organic nutes for veg and thats it.

And i forgot to mention i am growing organically.

All help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

1 depends on how many plants and how big you want to veg .. 96 cfl will be ok for 2-4 small plants vegged for a few weeks
if you want to grow more plant use the hps, you might aswell start with the cfl, switch to the hps when they get bigger
you will only be wasting electricty in the early stages using the hps

2 buy a new timer they are cheap, they shouldnt be losing 1-2 hours, maybe the segmental timers are 1 segment out like 15 mins or so each way but not 2 hours
if you are asking, can you run your lights say 12am to 12pm, then switch it round to 12pm to 12 am, yes you can do that aslong as you keep the 12/12 period, but seriously get a new timer

3 if you are growing organic, why would you want superthrive anyway, it amazes me why on earth people buy this rubbish, it will make 0.00000001 difference to your crop if you are lucky .. you really do not need it
it would be like buying multi vitamins for yourself and believing you will be able to run faster and live longer because you take sanatogen gold

peace :)

If you want to grow organically with ease, get the raw organic materials to whip up some subcool supersoil or make some compost teas. You don't need to ph with these methods.

Thanks so much for the fast response. Im going out tomorrow to buy a new timer for sure. As for the lighting period question so i can change the time im turning on/off the lights as long as i keep them on the 20/4 schedule ive been using?
And the superthrive ive never used before but i just transplanted so thought i should use it. Again thanks so much for the reply.

hey man superthrive is ill it has all micro nutes. i would buy a super concentrated bottle super thrive versus watered down flora nova micro? plus he said he was growing organic and the only way to get micro nutes organically is thru slo release ferts. fast release organic ferts barely hold micro nutes.... but you are right it would only be a waste of elec. to veg under 400 just get the cfls close. you only need 1 ml superthrive per gallon and its fine to use every watering except last 2 weeks.

superthrive is not organic, again not all of its ingredients are listed
its one of those grower myths really, i wouldnt buy it if it was free myself

cut out the super thrive and your plants will grow the same without it
