I am constructing a vertical soil garden. It is going to be shaped like an octagon and will have shelves every every 18 inches.
I am curious as to whether I should purchase 600 watt ballasts or 1000 watt ballasts. I will be purchasing Lumatek Digital Ballasts so that I can veg and flower using the same ballast. 240 volt as I have a 50 amp circuit in place.
(4) 600 watt ballasts would cost me about $600 more than than (2) 1000's after adding extra bulbs + socket cords and assemblies. I was thinking with the 600's I would have more points of light and I could put them even closer to the plants. I am more interested in quality of the product than set up price.
I have some homemade cooltubes which my buddy says kept his garden well within the limits so the closeness to the lamp may not be as big an issue.
What do you folks suggest.
