I'm excited for this. I have to let the Skunk#1 thread die and hope another real one will turn up in the seeds from that year. The imposter Skunk fooled me. It could fool alot of people I think. Pictured is another imposter Skunk. Look at it...damn...looks just like Sk#1. But it smells just like POG!
This is sure to be some killer dope. Baba POG.

This plant was started on 11/13 from germination so it would not get too tall. It's going to have fat trichomes like it's Afghani ancestor. The terpene profile now is a sweet hashish aroma that is a dead ringer for POG. Really look forward to sampling this plant. It has been cloned. It's getting hard to find fresh 90's genetics. If you live in VA. and your interested talk to me. The seeds of this plant were made in 2003 from 90's seed stock and exceptional Sk#1 genetics that the Skunkman won't reveal how old they were, old in 2001 already when he gave them away as freebies thru Gypsy Nirvana.IMG_20250116_030003.jpg
 
Gotta say it...Skunk Magazine...this is the real skunk hunt. Not the created whateverthefuckbutdamnsurenotskunk being created for the hype market. My 2003 seeds are the gold mine and the vein to mine for real skunk, you Skunk Magazine are Mr.Peabodys Coal Train come to take it away... Corporate suckass bullshit.
 
From my understanding two different growers can run the same clone, different environments and get different results. Morphology and terpene profiles will be what's noticed to the naked eye first. If this is skunk#1 and you've grown it before from the same lot of seeds, its still definitely skunk#1. Keep popping beans of this cultivar and you'll eventually find what your looking for.
 
One characteristic of this cross is it's dark green leaves that comes from the Kabul Baba aka RKS. There is a smaller plant #5 with more Baba Afghani terps. Both have the dark green leaves and structure of the Skunk#1. I remember both parent strains as being very stony.
 
This is not pure Sk#1. See thread title. It's appearance is very close though. At this stage anyway. I just want some smoke that kicks my ass in a good way.

There's 2 or 3 pollen donors at work here. My other fave is a so far tropical fruit smelling squat indica type structured plant. I've been hoping the Willy D f2 which probly was the male would produce a sweet pheno, even a Hawaiian pheno. Or a Williams Wonder pheno. IMG_20250115_221824.jpg
This plant is looking real good to be something special I hope. The terps at this stage are superb.
 
Even if this stuff is stonier than all the Purple candy gas in RVA, no one will give a fuck and they will still line up to buy expensive foil pouchs. While I can't get a customer. Heard of a local delivery service selling all hype bud with fancy names. All of it looks exactly the same. And will have that same boring high too I bet.
If Humboldt was sending its finest here that would be one thing ...but that's not what is happening. Who knows what gets sent here? Chinese chemicals pot that is not even safe to smoke?
Our Gov is a total stupid dipshit. He doesn't understand the pot economy and he's totally fucking Virginians. I don't doubt he is working with John Boehner and the Republicans who have cashed in on corporate pot.

Yeah not only does skunk usually have high phenotype plasticity just like your saying it's a strain that can also throw out crazy profiles that are all over the show as well so it's not just the grower and environment etc it's very varied to begin with more so than any other strain ime

Just another reason why I'll never buy a single gram from a dispo. I'm very skeptical of everything these days and there's a bunch of bullshit delta8 hemp flower that's being sprayed with botanical terpenes. Personally it doesn't matter if it ever does/doesn't get removed from the CSA or even rescheduled, I will never buy from a commercial outfit nor a pharmaceutical company. I'm always going to grow for myself, family and friends.
 
I collected pollen today, it was well dried first and put in a jar in the fridge. Even today when I removed the dried male flowers that sat for 10 days or so, they put off the same skunky odors as every other time I touched them. A real stinky male. I will definitely use this pollen.

That likely is due to the masses that have done hybridization of skunk#1. For at least the last 20 yrs, everyone has offered a skunk. It's probably be diluted down so badly it'll take some serious efforts and many years to resurrect. It really is a shame what the cannabis industry has turned into. Greed is the root of all evil.

I think it depends on the line. I found sk#1 to be stable in the sense that you could tell a skunk plant from another strain, fairly homogenous, but you'd get big, small, better sweeter terps on some plants, some more compact like Afghani, but all having the same branching and basic terps. It wasn't as much of a spread as what I am growing now.
Also, the bracting didn't change that much, you'd get better ones of course, but all had bracts that were the same in size and in the bud structure. I'd say medium/ small bracts. And some plants were average. Some were more resinous. And some had cherry terps.

I love passing on my findings to this new generation. I don't know if I'll make 70 so I like sharing what I can.
 
When I made sk#1 seeds in 2003. I only used one male and one female. And I imagine the majority of the seeds I collected were from that one female. So the line was narrowed then. While I was focused on not letting a ton of pollen drop from that one male plant...some plants off to the side went unnoticed and dropped some pollen. That's how the Fireskunk was accidentally made. And a Kabul Baba dropped some pollen nearby. I have Baba seeds from then, good candidate to find a pure sk#1 seed mixed in, never realized the Fireskunk mom got hit with Baba pollen too until now.
 
This is Imposter Skunk#1, -#1. It's close.Has a true Skunk phylotaxy but there is an additional indica influence I believe that is most noticable in the cured buds earthy,musty,hashy,gassy terps. The influence of the male is subtle but noticable to me. I also think the plant is a little squatter and fatter than pure sk#1. The hashish has noticable lemon lime terps. And at week 5 the plant is all lemon lime goodness. In the pure skunk that comes thru on the cure. It is difficult to say is this just an inferior Sk#1 or a hybrid? But having grown out more of the seeds alot was revealed. I think the lemon lime of the Imposter cut comes from the NYC Diesel. It's not that rich sweet pungency. But at times skunk terps are there in the imposter.
The Sensi Seed Bank description of their skunk number one terpene profile is a "rich sweet pungency." I always found that to be very correct to the line of skunk I had. And that terpene profile is something I would know if I smelled it again. IMG_20250116_213131.jpg
