400W Sour Cream, Bubba Kush, Mystery Grow

And away we go......

So I have 3 seeds germinating, 1 Sour Cream (FEM), 1 Bubba Kush, and I Mystery Seed that wasn't labeled, who's name will forever be lost...until I grow it and smoke it, then I can probably tell. I got these seeds from an online vendor a very long time ago so I can't remember the name but I know the genes are good. This is my first grow after being retired for a few years so I'm pretty stoked!

SPECS

Space - Grow tent 48' x 48' x 79'
Light - 400W (the ballast has a dimmer that can go from 50% to 75% to 100% which is nice)
Bulbs - MH for veg, HPS for flower
Soil - FF Ocean Forest
Nute line up - worm castings for veg, Guano(s), molasses, tomato tone, etc (see how it plays out), probably some hi-cal lime in there too
I'll just be using a couple oscillating fans in the tent, I live in Colorado so I'm not concerned about smell, and temp should be fine since it's pretty cold here already.

At one point I might cut it down to only two plants depending on how they are looking but we'll cross that bridge when we get there. Got a couple pictures of the tent but nothing really exciting yet. Just some pics of the tent and light, everything else is coming this week but I wanted to get the journal started. If you want to post that's totally cool with me too!

Day 10
Waited awhile to update this since there wasn't much going on. Just a few quick updates though...I procured a clone by chance in the last couple days (Bubblegummer I was told) so that is now planted also. 2 out of the 3 seeds germinated so I also have those planted right now too. One of them has already broke through and is looking beautiful.
Temp is holding between 75ish and 85, but when the light is off I have to supplement with a space heater since it's cold as balls here is CO.
Called an audible on the soil/nutes too, I'm gonna just roll with the FF OF and calmag during veg and then switch to Jacks all purpose and bloom booster during flower.

So many audibles....
Also had a devastating attack on the garden, 1 soul lost.

Really what happened though is my dumbass left the door open and the cat ate one of the babies...then threw it up. Unable to resuscitate. So I went and procured another clone, on purpose this time. She's the same strain and everything. Anyways, both are doing fine and the mystery seedling is also doing well. I guess this has now turned in to a bubblegummer x2 and mystery grow. No worries though.

Got the nutes in though so that's good. Pics of the girls.

Day 26
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Thought I'd throw a little turkey update on here since I haven't posted in awhile. Girls are still doing well, both clones are growing vigorously and usually will suck the soil dry within 3-4 days now. The plan is to transplant them this weekend to the 5 gallon pots, and flip the lights next Friday. That will give both of them around a month of veg time. It also gives me time to get my 440fan, cool tube, and ventilation delivered and installed.

Only minor problems I've had is some heat stress on the girls. Seems like clone 1 got the worst but nothing too serious. I raised the light and it doesn't seem to be progressing as much but still is effecting the upper leaves so I'm a bit confused. I have my light a good 2ft above the canopy and a fan blowing between. Temp at canopy reads 79-81. I do put a heater in there when the lights are off set to 75 and it doesn't oscillate so I think it may just be blowing on the leaves and causing it? I don't know if that is something that can happen....

Anyways some pics that are a couple days old. The seedling has since been transplanted to a gallon pot and the white fan has been raised to blow just above canopy level.

Looking good bud. I'm in co aswell. Its crazy cuz you have almost exact setup I do. Fan, light, tent and even the same hood. I love your super advanced scientific thermometer stand lmao. I put the hermie diesel in dark yesterday and gonna leave it for a week and chop. Never done a long dark period before harvest so figure this was good time to try.

Just wanted to post some pics of the new set up. Got the cool tube and ventilation installed, also transplanted clone 1 to a 5 gal. I am going to do clone 2 on weds and then I'm going to flip the lights on Friday to start the flowering adventure. New growth looks great so I think the heat problem is solved. Ha! No lie dude I was saying the same thing to my lady when I was reading through your journal. Didn't you take a break from growing too? I think that was something we also had in common. Thanks for the good vibes though man, the grow is coming along nicely. I hope to get like you lol!

Yes I took a break for awhile. I don't smoke much so I don't even need to grow, but I'll be damned if I wasn't going to grow some 100% legal buds. Although it's essentially legal in Alaska since the 70's. Completely decriminalized. I love my little bonsai midgets and makes everything so much easier when they are small. Looks like you will have some good stocky and short gals as well.

Amazon is awesome, I've gotten like 99% of my equipment off of there. Just sucks waiting on shipping sometimes but that's not a big deal. I don't really see how hydro shops stay in business around here tbh. &yea dude those lil blizzards are awesome! When I bought it I thought it'd be my secondary fan cause it was a bit smaller but once I turned that thing on I called an audible real quick. Had to make that fan number 1 ha.

I thought I saw you said you took a break, same here. Grew in another state for awhile & got caught up in some stuff, but once I got here & it was legalized I was right back on it. I love growing. I was gonna ask if you ever got a heater in your tent or figure out why those nanners were popping up?

My last grow log was in 08. I did go a couple years without growing, but mainly just stopped doing logs for obvious reasons. I didn't get a heater, i'm not worried about the lower temps. Yes it is not "optimal" to have temps in low 50's at night but it's not going to hurt anything. It may have been what triggered the nanners, but it's only the Diesel that is throwing them and it was a freebie bean I got so most likely it is just due to poor feminizing techniques and or genetics. I'm glad it happened though cuz now im gonna see what happens when she sits in the dark for 7 days before I chop.

Right on, think I missed the part about it only being one of the ladies so you're probably right with the poor fem techniques idea. Good thing it was a freebie though always makes it easier not to care. I should probably not get so sketched with my temps either but when they get below 60 it gets in my head. 7 days of darkness?! It'll be cool to see if it does anything but either way it's an interesting experiment just to see.

Day36
Had a little lull there for awhile, I think I'm in that phase right before you flip and vegging is kind of boring me right now so I haven't been posting much. A lot of updates to catch up on though.....

All three of the girls are doing fine. Doing a couple things different on the individual clones....so I FiMed clone 1 and topped clone 2. I also supercropped both girls as to make them more bushy. This was my first time supercropping, and I was hesitant at first, but supercropping is the shit. It's so easy and the girls will recover within a couple hours or the next day. It doesn't seem to hurt at all, and in fact my girls seem to be growing even more vigorously since I've done the deed. Probably looking at flipping tomorrow or sometime next week. Clone 1 has 4-6 tops already and clone 2 is pushing 3-4 so I'm stoked about that.

Oh and my only other (very small) concern is the pace at which the mystery seed is growing. I mean it's about to be a month of veg and the thing is only on its 3-4 node. I don't understand why it's growing so slow but it really doesn't concern me since that is a freebie I'm just playing around with.

Oh, I also am germinating 2 freebie auto seeds (AK and blueberry) to add in the tent when they are ready. Just going to throw them under whatever light cycle I had going at the time. I know it's probably not the best decision in the world but they're autos and freebies so I'm not too worried about them. The decision has been made.

So, with my setup, I was actually debating on growing the seedlings in the sun from the beggining, just in a windowsill or something, I mean at that point in its life it could be any plant. Also, what light cycle do you recommend? I am going to probably be only indoors for maybe 3 - 4 weeks, possibly. Depends on when I start them and how the weather fairs, I just cant have any smell, or anything like that. What would you reccomend in my situation? As soon as I think the last frost is gone they are going to be going outside though, im in Massachusetts if that helps.

You could do 3-4 weeks if it's getting good light through the window I guess. I personally I wouldn't veg it more than 2 weeks or so in the windowsill though but that's just me. You could train her (LST, suppercrop,etc) which would keep her small and not looking totally like a quintessential "weed plant", if you're worried about that. I've always run a 18/6 in veg and 12/12 in flower and it's worked great. For my next grow I'm going to try the GLR or 12:1, but that's another story. So yea, 18/6 12/12, but if your going to grow strictly outside you don't have to worry about that. So question, before I can make a recommendation, how many plants are you planning on growing?

That's a good number. If you're planning on doing them at least 3-4 weeks they'll get fairly big, not huge though since you're doing them from seed. I think the question is, do you have the money and the space for a tent/set up? I mean you could do a simple CFL light set up, which is pretty cheap and stealthy if you need it to be, or a couple 2ft t5s, also super stealthy and are awesome for veg.

I dont think I really have the space, thats why I was planning on going outdoors, but from what you say maybe only 2 weeks indoors will be good, I have done some research and I think I will most likely be starting the seeds in mid-late april. Also since I am going to be outoodrs, how badly will it affect my plants if they dont get 18/6 and then 12/12? I can get pretty close to that but it will be hard.
