5000k for vegetative stage? please help

This is my first time growing. I am growing 2 blue cheese strains in my closet. I have a car window visor to reflect light and currently have 4 5000k cfl bulbs about 3 inches over the plants. They are only 4 days old. Will 5000k work for vegetative stage? I have some 2700k for when I move to flowering but someone told me I absolutely HAVE to have 6500k but I can't find any. Will 5000k be OK? Please help me.

Yes. I recently switched from 6500 to 5000 and they are working better. Check out the grows in my signature, those are vegging with 5000k cfl.

Have both.. have a balance of 2700k and 6500k, for correct internodel spacing, as cool white, blue or grows out, .. leaf area and red light warm white or light in the 2700k area encourages stem growth, later in bud go 100% red or light in the 2700k zone for bud development

i always ran a mix of cfl's and found that my plants liked the 2700k bulbs better then the 5000k bulbs. they would all lean to the 27's and away from the 50's. a lot of hid and led growers like a mix of light and try to mock the different seasons with the different spectrum's. with cfl i tried to stay 3 to 1 ratio, veg 3 5000k to 6500k (which i prefer 6500k) and 1 2700k. for flower 3 2700k to 1 5000k to 6500k mix.

id have to disagree how ever im not experienced as these guys , im on my third grow and give my ladies 24/0 under 6500k cfl lighting only ... i think the 5000k light may be slowing down , but u may just not have hit rapid growth yet... if ur plants are still around the same size as ur profile picture u have another few days to a week before they really get bizzy .... usually a week in is when they really start spurting for me, i top at 5th node and again a week or so before i flip to flower (as long as my new growth looks like its had a far enuff head start) i usually go with a 3 week veg but this time i sprouted more plants and am experimenting with different veg times

5000K more closely resembles or presents "morning" light while 6500K is more closely performing as afternoon sun. Use both together.

this is under 6500k i really dont see how 5000k would add anything 6500k doesnt,, these are at different veg times but non longer then 3 weeks from sprout .... the first pic was my first attempt at hydro which didnt go well which is why they dont look the healthies and have several problems... however as u can see they had no problems growing bushy and full 20150730_212948.jpg20150918_214044.jpg 20150918_214119.jpg 20150915_112443.jpg
